  1. You got a spare ticket.... I'm 7-0 !!! Wow, let's get a group fund together for season tickets for you guys. I'm 4-0 on the year, but with wins against Cleveland, Colorado and 2 against Cincy..nothing to write home about
  2. Let's hammer this clown tonight and get Randy up in the lead for ROY. Who would have thought Harden would end up being the borderline workhouse of our starting rotation this year?
  3. I think our injuries have been more demoralizing. Obviously biased point of view, but it seems the Mets could have a sense of just need to tread water and once we get our guys back we'll make a run. Every time this year we've been at the point of our opening day roster, the baseball gods wind up and kick us in the groin repeatedly again and again
  4. That could happen as well. It just seems like Bob REALLY knows the game and he's NOT affraid to call players out. We'll see but Lou is done and it couldn't be more obvious. Not only does he look defeated, he has know idea what he's doing out there. He might be the worst in game manager in the bigs right now. Wow, I hope you aren't serious. About Lou? Yes, I am. You know people like Dusty Baker and Jim Riggleman have manager jobs right now right?
  5. Post of the thread here. Save some gray hairs and flip something else on. Star Wars is on Spike!
  6. So, I took a nap and overslept and missed the start of the game. :insert joke about still a nightmare here: lol@ fun bad. It seems that there's so much going against us this year. But it's August 10th only, still time for crazyness to happen
  7. No, thanks.
  8. I have two teams atm, if you are a Sublime fan you'll get Forte Oz. To Freedom If you like potty humor Goulden Showers
  9. touchdowns? Last time the CUBS scored 21 runs in a game.... Fri 18 Aug 95 in an 26-7 win at Colorado Go CUBS !! I'm not saying..... I'm just saying. Maybe if we factor in a few missed extra points or 2 point conversions it's possible :-k
  10. While the initial story is certainly horrible, i think it would be prudent to await all the details/trial to come out of this case before people start lambasting Kaner. There are plenty of instances where charges are overexaggereated against athletes in hopes to get some settlement $$$.
  11. Has anyone heard if Z is going to be on any kind of a pitch count with his back? Or just a play it by ear thing?
  12. I'm be happy with a split. I'm going to start raising my expectations with this team. We've got the whole line up back now, no more excuses. Colorado is a decent team, but winning 3 of 4 shouldn't be out of the question. All this means is my disapointment will be 10x worse.
  13. Orton was boo'ed by a record training camp crowd in Denver. http://www.chicitysports.com/2009/08/06/orton-booed-by-fans/ I know this is borderline NFL offseason and not Bears, but I figured he was traded. Anyways, I feel terrible for the guy. He has so little chance to suceed there. They don't have a solid running game/special teams/defense to allow him to just be the 'game manger' Maybe after Denver gets rid of him we can bring him back to backup Cutler, Kyle would be a very solid #2
  14. We need 3 of 4 from these clowns to keep pace with StL and good wild card position. Come on Z, be the ace we are paying you to be and give us 7innings of 1 run ball tonight.
  15. I love the onion. They've had a bunch of funny Cubs ones over the years, this is one of my personal favorites
  16. Agreed. The article is a very intersting read. But I think it speaks more to a pitchers use of a particular pitch in the situation that they throw it in. The fact that Demp has the best slider doesn't mean his breaks harder or catches more corners etc but it does speak to the fact that he sets the slider up very well with how he uses his other pitches.
  17. Sad turn to the story, maybe I was overly optimistic about this signing. I thought maybe he could get to the point to help this team come September callups. Seemed to be doing decently in the minors outside of Velo and some walks.
  18. McNeil actually used some logic and chose Rami. Right now you'd be foolish to pick anyone other than Rami, although it looks like Beckham's 'upside' could be that of Rami or even better. Just thought it was an interesting topic to at least throw around and kill some time this afternoon 8-)
  19. Is Beckham really a better third baseman than ARAM? I know he was a SS in college but I've seen some fugly plays by him over at the hot corner. He's gotten a LOT more solid over there, arguably one of their best gloves outside of Wise and Getz.
  20. Great Apu work in.
  21. Yr Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR GS RBI BB IBB SO SH SF HBP GIDP AVG OBP SLG 2003 Cubs 5 18 2 5 1 0 1 0 3 2 0 2 0 0 0 1 .278 .350 .500 2007 Cubs 3 12 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1 0 5 0 0 0 2 .000 .077 .000 2008 Cubs 3 11 1 2 1 0 0 0 0 1 0 2 0 0 0 1 .182 .250 .273 Rami's stats for his 3 Octobers..obviously not great. But with the history he has shown for the dramatic in high pressure regular season games. You've got to think if/when he gets back he's due for a huge series Sorry those are really hard to read. '07 he went 0-12 and '08 he went 2-11
  22. This seems like an obvious answer to me, but the topic came up on McNeils show today and discussing it with some of the guys I work with, maybe it's not obvious... The question is which Chicago third basemen would you want for the playoffs? Even considering ARam's previous two Octobers, I didn't think anyone would want a rookie there Aram but it is probably 50/50 at my work. And the splits are definitely mixed between Cub and Sox fans. Beckham got off to a terrible start this year adjusting to the majors etc and has just recently started playing very well. October being the different animal that it is, leads me to believe he would struggle in his first playoff experience as well.
  23. Having a conscience battle with myself over my reaction to this... I hope he needs to get his leg amputated. I'm not above saying it.
