  1. cards are playing the nationals It can't hurt. I get so drunk on the Cubs Kool Aid with marginal success...i need help
  2. Wow how deep was Lee's fly ball? That looked gone on the gamecast
  3. So it almost seems we can expect maybe a minimum tweak and hope this same team starts to outhit our defensive deficiencies next year like we did last year? [Expletive] Come on double play.
  4. Agreed. I would love us to make a much bigger commitment to some defense this offseason. Which will require getting rid of Soriano or Bradley and moving Riot to 2nd...as a start at least. Maybe one of those three will happen if lucky
  5. We're still watching this game right? How much more true-blue can we get here?
  6. Let this sink in KBF. You can be all sides of the fan spectrum here and find someone who'll be right there with you. We'll respect you being optimistic, just as you should respect some of us have had our hearts broken so many times that we just can't do it when we are 9 games back on August 28th. Relax and enjoy the game:)
  7. Read back to some older Game Threads and you'll see we used to be ra-ra and optimistic. At this point, like someone above said, a lot of us feel this is a realistic approach to take with this team based on what they've shown us since April. OK, I see your point. They suck. They're always going to suck. I'll get with the program. No one saying they'll always suck etc. But they have been a bad baseball team this year when you consider their payroll and the realistic expectations that people had coming into this year. The beauty of this board and baseball in general is you can enjoy it in any way that makes you happy. If you want to be really optimistic with this team please keep posting as I'm sure some people would love the injection of confidence. If you think that this season is about done, then post things like that. The world is your oyster.

  9. I'm in tears at work between the Simpsons and this quote...great stuff

  11. Alright I'll have some of your Kool Aid. COME ON CUBS!! Keep the 9-1 homestand in sight!!
  12. What is it about this team/game that you can convince/fool yourself and feel hopeful in the most dire situations? Ugh
  13. I didn't see this posted anywhere yet, i'm sorry if I've missed it: For once, I mostly completely agree with this. Maybe expand on the In House candidate section. http://espn.go.com/chicago/story?columnist=wojciechowski_gene&id=4420521
  14. No truth to the rumor that Albert Pujols is sitting out the rest of the week due to depression. I"m guilty as anyone about reading his MMQB article every Monday. He is usually an entertaining read, but wow he's off the wall about some stuff. He is a big time Red Sox/East Coast homer, so take baseball knowledge thru those lens.
  15. Yea, the Miles thing did it for me. I'm going to not stay up for one of these this week and get some sleep. GL all, far braver than me
  16. I think this every game. But Len and Bob are such a great listen. Very comfortable with each other, knowledgeable, funny and obviously passionate.
  17. Um..... because Hendry is an idiot? Basically did the same thing with Milton too. Cubs actually were not the highest bidder for Kosuke, he took less money to play here
