    Ramirez has over 14m in a player option for 2011. Unless he absolutely rakes for the rest of the season, I can't imagine him turning that down unless he's going to take a pay cut to try to sign with a contender.

    The way it works. He's going to birdie 18 here and be extremely happy at 6 under. When the wind picks up this afternoon, these morning scores are going to be really solid. Not sure on the weather tomorrow, but chances are they come back to earth since these will be afternoon times.

    You know some pretty smart 12 year olds who are talking about ISoP I can distinctly remember sitting in my attic with cards laid out and and subtracting AVG from SLG. The best of these would be my "Sluggers" when arranging my cards into batting orders. I had no idea it had a name, it just seemed like something worth doing. I'd also subtract AVG from OBP to "see who walked alot" amongst those with decent averages. EDIT: This may have been later. Thinking back, I imagine lots of kids did very similar things. I stand corrected if Im really in the minority with this. When I was that young my brain didn't comprehend stats beyond wins, losses homeruns, rbi's and averages

    I wonder how history will ultimately view him. As an owner who would spare no expense in trying to win a championship or someone who helped drive up salaries that half of the competition is eliminated on a yearly basis. Probably a mix of both, but he definitely helped the game of baseball a lot more than he hurt it

    Very happy about matching Hammer. It probably means us losing Niemi which I'm okay with picking between the two. The Hawks and Niemi are going to go to arbitration at the end of July and unfortunately the Halak contract is going to drive the price of Niemi higher than we are going to be able to afford (probably around the 3.5m/y mark) I"m expecting us to ultimately sign Marty Turco to a 1 year 1-2m type deal and go into the season with Turco and Crawford.

    Very shrewd offer by San Jose. They know it's around 500k more than the Hawks were hoping to pay, yet not outrageous enough for us to decline it and for them to be saddled with a huge contract. Stan is not an idiot. We'll match. See ya Niemi, thanks for everything.

    did they address the news articles that reported days ago that lebron was spotted in NYC on Thursday and again Saturday night and that multiple people reported seeing Wade at the cubs-sox game on saturday and supposdely all week in Chicago? I'm not saying that makes it possible that they flew to Miami on sat morning and made it a point to be spotted in public in other cities later that night. Just wondering if thy actually addressed these reports. Also conference calls aren't a new technology. Exactly. People are fooling themselves if they don't think all of these FA's haven't been in contact with each other through phone/text/email/agents etc.

    Steven A is an idiot. A week ago he guaranteed the Knicks. Now he 'gurantees' the Heat, but embeds it with caveats later like I believe and unless Lebron changes his mind. This is an attention grab to get views for his show/twitter etc. Everyone is saying the Bulls so he is trying to do something. I wish he'd go away.
