  1. Not sure about overall, but the Cubs won 4-0 against the Rockies in the 2009 opener in very similar weather (it might have actually been colder). I remember it rained all morning, then stopped long enough for Ted Lilly to almost throw a no-hitter, then started again. I was there and it was pretty miserable watching in those conditions, but as always a win makes everything better. I'll settle for a similar result tomorrow.
  2. Baseless Soriano hate on NSBB is definitely a sign baseball season is back. :clapping:
  3. Not saying that, but was there anyone before that season started who thought the Giants had any chance of achieving what they did? Not many, as most were saying the same things you're saying about the Cubs now. They do have better pitching, but they weren't perfect last year. Lincecum had a pretty shaky regular season by his standards. My point is that you can win a World Series without a great offense. True. You can. But you need a Lincecum, Cain, Bumgartener, Sanchez, and a good bullpen. Ours is respectable and our rotation is pretty good, but the Giants have both better starters and a better pen than us. But who says our pitching has to be as good as the Giants to win a World Series? Everyone here should know that once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. And with the NL Central shaping up to be horrible once again, we can win the division with this team. Plus, I think our offense has the potential to be a little better than San Fran's. Put me in the category of people who think the Cubs will probably win a World Series in a year which they barely make the playoffs, not a year when they dominate and the entire world is watching them like 2008. Not saying it's going to happen this year, but it's too early to rule that out now.

  6. This is what my buddy texted me, where is this coming from? Accuweather has it at 51 and cloudy. Weather.com lol
  7. Forecast right now is calling for a rain/snow mix with a high of 45, aka the 2009 opener weather. :( :-&
  8. Dempster-Zambrano-Garza-Wells-Cashner is the best we could have hoped for and looks like we got it. This is easily a top 10 rotation.
  9. This is the best part of all. Now release Koyie Hill and let's start the damn season.
  10. It's questionable. He's really bad...
  11. Someone please tell me there's a chance Koyie Hill gets designated. With Barney on the team, it means we would have two guys on the bench who aren't capable of OPSing .600.
  12. I wish the media would stop teasing me about Howard being MVP.
  13. Hopefully the Cubs can channel the 2010 Bears and have a good season despite a horrible spring training/preseason. While things look pretty bad right now, as long as we stay healthy I have hope that we'll be able to compete.
  14. You don't see why a 15-14 road team beating a 26-9 home team would be an upset? In the grand scheme of the NBA it would be a blip on the radar, but I think the term stealing one applies here. Unless "stealing one" is universally defined somewhere, we can agree to disagree. I disagree to agree. Okay. In that case, since Bulls are up by eight at the end of three...UPSET ALERT!!!!!

  16. Nice to see that the injury hasn't slowed down Colvin at all.
  17. Perhaps I just don't consider what would be at most a very small upset to be "stealing one".
  18. Not sure how the Bulls would be stealing one when they have the better record, but I agree with you. I'm not really expecting to win tonight at all. I'm just glad Magic basketball is on TV two nights in a row.
  19. Holy [expletive] that was glorious. Up 24 points with 9 minutes left in the 3rd and Miami implodes completely. This is about as happy as I've been over a regular season NBA game.
  20. Wow, some flashes of 2006 Arenas. This game is unreal.
  21. Beast mode for JRich. We have a game on our hands.
  22. Yeah I hate this deal. After all, coaches that get the most out of minimal talent are pretty much useless. Plus, it's not like he's been easily the 2nd most successful coach this franchise has seen in the last 45 years. On a serious note, I would have given him 3 or 4 more years.
  23. I think I've seen enough of Gilbert Arenas.
  24. Smith's been alright these past two seasons, but before that he had to be approaching Ryan Leaf territory. Either way, he's still a bust.
