  1. I don't care how bad Johnson's stats are, he's going to own the crap out of us. We all know what happens when the Cubs face RHPs making their debuts.
  2. Aramis on the other hand looks fantastic.
  3. And Samardzija's future is selling insurance.
  4. Doubt he'll get it, but I think there's a decent chance we'll have a Castro batting title watch on our hands this summer.
  5. Another summer of meaningless baseball.
  6. I hate getting beat by teams with zero talent.
  7. If we were going to get a guy who strikes out as much as Pena, why couldn't we have got Dunn?
  8. Byrd should have had 3 there and Aramis should have easily had 3 earlier. When you're as unclutch as the Cubs, you can't be conservative on the basepaths.
  9. Although his sample size is fairly small, he's 27 and has yet to show he can be a serviceable MLB reliever. His control has become an issue, as we even saw in AAA last year (5.5 BB/9). I suppose we'll see how he does. I certainly have more hope left for him than I do Samardzija.
  10. I'm actually fine with Russell and Mateo for now, and I'm willing to see if Grabow can have a rebound year. It's mainly Samardzija and Stevens that I've seen enough of.
  11. Speaking of Stevens, why the hell is he up over Scott Maine?
  12. When we dip into our bullpen with a lead I like our chances, since we'll be using some combo of Marshall-Wood-Marmol most of the time. It's the times when we're trailing where things will probably just snowball. Grabow, Mateo, Samardzija, and Stevens/Russell are all pretty bad.
  13. After the Chicago Jeffbakers come from behind for a 7-4 victory and jump back over .500, we head to game two of this series in what is apparently a new rivalry. For this game we have perhaps the future ace of this staff... Matt Garza (0-0, 3.86 ERA) http://www.baynews9.com/static/articles/images/Sports2010/ap-garza-shavingcream.jpg VERSUS... Chris Narveson (0-0, 0.00 ERA) http://media3.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/photo/gallery/090924/GAL-09Sep24-2682/media/PHO-09Sep24-179207.jpg GO CUBS!!!
  14. A shutdown inning is always too much to ask with the Cubs.
  15. All Baker would have to be is mediocre against righties to play everyday 2B. Too bad he's not.
  16. Bucknor's strike zone is about as big as the ball itself.
  17. Theriot just made his 3rd error of the season.
  18. That's about as good of an offensive lineup as we can put out there. I'm sure that means a shutout is looming.
  19. According to Wikipedia, Z missed 2 games due to rotator cuff tendinitis in 2008. His first game back was the no hitter. That was the second time that year he hurt it then, because I was thinking about this, which happened in June... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3454619 Of course I'm aware shoulder strain and rotator cuff strain aren't exactly the same thing.
