  1. Edit: Wrong thread lol.
  2. Awesome, another WR that thinks he's way better than he really is. Bernard Berrian all over again.
  3. Cutler looks to have lost a good 15-20 lbs this offseason.
  4. Thats a bad excuse though. They had 30+ million to spend in FA. The way the NFL works, you need as much talent and depth as you can possibly get because things change in a hurry. And lets not pretend the Bears were not without glaring flaws despite going to the NFC title game. Well this is what I'm getting at. People are unhappy that we're still so far under the cap, so who could we have spent that money on? Edwards in addition to Roy Williams? Zach Miller? Sounds like we made respectable efforts to land Willie Colon and Osi but they didn't work out. I don't think we did THAT bad. I'd probably give us a C+ or B- as it stands right now. I'm higher on Williams and lower on Olsen than most people, however. If we end up signing a decent guard or someone better than Webb to play LT I'd probably give them a solid B.
  5. Honest question, if the Bears signed a better option at guard (if there are any left) before the start of the season, would people feel better about the FA period? Other than that and signing someone like Edwards or Floyd over Roy Williams, what else could they have done differently? I think we owe them the benefit of the doubt for now on the Olsen deal. Who else got away? Umenyiora? I hate to sound like the coaches and front office, but this was already a top three team in the NFC going into the FA period. The Eagles got better, but I don't think anyone else leapfrogged the Bears.
  6. Yeah he's going to have to learn how to walk before we even talk about MVP. Developing more power and just overall improvement should increase his chances for walks. He's obviously going to have to get his OBP very close to .400 if he's ever going to OPS .900.
  7. I knew Castro had some power but eight rows deep in the deepest part of PNC is impressive for any hitter. It would be nice if he could get the HR total up to 7 or 8 by season's end and continue to work his way toward being that 15-20 HR a year guy that most people think he can be.
  8. How can an average fan say there's "no way" that one center from a team you probably didn't watch much is a downgrade from your previous center? But that's pretty much a situation where you have to go off of what scouts, people at NFL Films, sites like Pro Football Focus have to say. You just answered your own question. Everything I've read suggests Spencer will be an upgrade on the field. Leadership remains to be seen.
  9. I like how he thinks a 3rd rounder for Olsen wasn't enough. That's a pretty good haul for a good but not great TE.
  10. Yeah there's no way Spencer is a downgrade from Kreutz. I agree on the other positions though.
  11. Oh give me a break. 404 receiving yards with only 5 TDs and a YPC under 10 last year. Granted Martz didn't get the most out of him, but the statement is still ridiculous. It's been awhile since I've seen a player this overrated by Bears fans.
  12. LOL. In that case I can't wait to see Spencer vs. Suh twice this year.
  13. Davis isn't the starter. Spaeth is. Davis will be an after thought in the offense. I'm almost positive I read Lovie say Davis will now be the starter.
  14. I've actually been okay with all the signings we've made thus far. Barber is a great goal-line back, something Forte struggles with. This has to mean Taylor is gone. Still not thrilled about the Olsen deal only because Kellen Davis isn't a starting TE. Bring someone decent in and I'll feel better about it. It's obviously time to start addressing offensive line, which is the glaring need and should have been taken care of before the other positions. If Kreutz goes we'll need at least two signings there, or maybe one signing and a trade. Maybe bring in a linebacker too for depth and that should be it. It's definitely been a quantity over quality type of free agency for the Bears, but we're signing a lot of guys who have the talent and are still young enough to turn their careers around (Gholston, Okoye, Roy Williams, etc.).
  15. Is Braylon Edwards that much better than Roy Williams? He has some of the worst hands in the NFL.
  16. Man I'll admit I wanted Sims-Walker but people on Twitter are acting like the Bears missed out on Fitz or Andre Johnson. It's amazing what being a fantasy stud for a short period in 2009 will do for a guy.
  17. Uhh yeah. IMO he's better than Olsen. I'd be estatic with him or Kevin Boss either one. Gholston sounds like a Marinelli project. I don't mind that signing one bit.
  18. I've read that there's still some concern out there about MSW's knee. Not sure if that's why the Bears went for Williams instead. We may never know.
  19. Didn't see this posted on here yet, from last night: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/6814403/chicago-bears-interested-mike-sims-walker-source-says I still think there's a chance we get MSW in addition to Williams. That's probably just wishful thinking though.
  20. Since we're now down to two TEs, I'd like to see the Bears take a look at someone like Kevin Boss who is a UFA. He's a great blocker and a decent receiver. Unfortunately the most likely scenario is having one of the rookie camp invitees fill the 3rd spot and going with Kellen Davis as the starter. :-& Also, give Forte his damn money to prevent a holdout. Without him we might as well punt on 1st down.
  21. While I don't like the idea of taking a target away from Cutler (especially if we don't sign a WR), it's not a bad trade at all. Good tight ends not named Gates or Clark aren't that hard to find anymore. Plus, if Olsen has a bad year in Carolina (which is likely, it's the Panthers), a pick in the high 60s low 70s overall might suddenly seem like a steal. As long as we sign a good-sized receiver to replace Olsen I'll be okay with it. I'm not a Roy Williams fan and would rather have Edwards or Floyd. That said, he has thrived in a Martz offense before, and has always been someone who has more talent than his performance indicates. I don't want to say he'd have a breakout year, but I think there's a decent chance he would out-perform the rest of the receiving corps. Perhaps I'm just not as down on him as most people are.
  22. Finally some good news.
  23. We still have Davis, right? So now the TE's are Spaeth, Davis and Olsen? And Manumaleuna. You can probably cross Olsen off the list now.
