  1. I don't blame Kosuke for swinging at what was a 87 mph fastball right down the middle. Just didn't hit it where he needed to.
  2. That inning was almost a disaster. Nice job Z.
  3. I'm not a very big Fontenot fan, but sending him down would be dumb. why? Because Andres Blanco is not a very good hitter. Fontenot is streaky and I still have faith he'll come out of it.
  4. I'm not a very big Fontenot fan, but sending him down would be dumb.
  5. Whats not to get? Hes been horid for the past 2 months. I'm just not a big fan of hating on a good player who will inevitably get hot again.
  6. Gameday has Fukudome hitting 5th and Fox 6th. Which is it?
  7. Im not sure which is more ridiculous. The Sam Fuld fellating or the Soriano hating. Gotta go with the former there. People weren't even like this after Scales started out hot and he at least had some power. I'll admit its nice to see a player like Fuld bring some energy to the team but if/when Soriano starts hitting 4-5 homers a week, Fuld will be forgotten about just like Scales.
  8. The Soriano hate on this board is getting ridiculous.
  9. This game is not over, regardless of how bad we want it to be.
  10. Remember when DLee was bad? Seemed like so long ago.
  11. Also, I see people keep bringing up the fact that he has done so poorly on the road. Couldn't this be attributed to the fact that some players just play better at home, rather than say its completely because Coors is a hitter's park? Its a misleading split to look at, especially considering that Wrigley too is a hitter's park.
  12. Bottom line is that everything suggests he is an offensive upgrade over Freel, Miles, and Blanco, as well as Fontenot against lefties. This guy has some power too. I really don't see a reason to hate the move considering we gave up so little. As someone else said, low risk high reward.
  13. Isn't Baker the guy who got a concussion from being hit in the head by Marquis in 07?
  14. Because Miles isn't on the roster right now. One of Blanco, Fox, or Patton has to go when Ramirez comes back to get the roster back to 25. Now if you want to DFA Miles before he comes back so 2 of those players don't have to be gone, that's another story. But one of those guys will have to leave regardless. Well in that case it probably will be Fox since Baker can backup third. Please let it be Patton though.
  15. I know it won't happen, but why can't Miles just be DFA'd when Ramirez comes back? Now we have a 2B platoon (plus Blanco) as well as Fox and Baker to backup Ramirez. There is absolutely no need to keep Miles on the team.
  16. Hopefully Baker is a good clubhouse guy as well. We need every positive attitude we can get right now.
  17. Put me down as a big fan of this trade. Baker was a stud at Clemson and has a .302/.377/.506/.883 career minor league line. He hasn't had a whole lot of opportunity in the big leagues but as long as his injury doesn't continue to be a problem this is a good move. Plus, look what we gave up, a pitcher with a 4.69 career ERA and a 1.48 career WHIP in the minor leagues who has never been above high A. Great job Jim.
  18. I was about to comment on how Howry's fastball is a good 2-3 mph faster than it was last year, but obviously it doesn't make him any better.
  19. What on earth is a Bob Howry?
  20. I'm convinced Pujols will never make an out again.
  21. Nice win. Biggest 11 games of the season coming up, we could either be in first or buried at the bottom of the division going into the ASB.
