  1. I wish this game meant something. In order to have any chance for the playoffs we're gonna have to go on a 2007 Rockies type of run. Very unlikely but stranger things have happened I suppose.
  2. Someone that throws deep and into coverage? Hmm, last time we had a QB who did that he was almost literally run out of town by fans. Our receivers were better back then too. Are you arguing that Rex = Cutler? Not at all. Cutler is obviously the better QB. I'm just saying that they seem to have similarities and I'm a bit more skeptical than I was when we acquired him. Fortuntely for Cutler he can probably make the same dumb plays that Rex made in 2006 and won't get booed for it because he has already won over the city of Chicago.
  3. We're not going anywhere if we do make the playoffs. I know people say anything can happen in the playoffs, but has this team looked a playoff team at anytime this year when they're not playing the Pirates, Nationals, or Indians? Just regroup in the offseason. Get the sale completed. Hopefully if Hendry isn't fired he has a better offseason than last year. He can't really have a worse one.
  4. I'd take Fielder because Lee should be just about done by 2011. But if Soto doesn't ever get back to 2008 form then Mauer.
  5. Someone that throws deep and into coverage? Hmm, last time we had a QB who did that he was almost literally run out of town by fans. Our receivers were better back then too.
  6. Why does it seem like every team plays good defense except us?
  7. The Rockies, Giants, Marlins, and Braves are all losing right now. Lets win okay?
  8. As optimistic I am about this season, I don't see us finishing any better than 11-5. That should be good enough for the division though.
  9. Of course he waits until after Madden 10 comes out. Is he even on that game?
  10. Not such a bad thing to be rained out today with all the sickness going around. Plus Ohlendorf owned us last time out. As has been mentioned, the wild card is starting to look like a pretty decent possibility. Our schedule is pretty weak outside of the four games at LA, four at SF, and three at STL. All those games left against Houston and Milwaukee don't look so bad anymore.
  11. What is the holdup? According to radar it hasn't been raining there for awhile now. They could have maybe gotten five innings in before this large band of t-storms. Looks like its too late now. Not sure why it hasn't been called.
  12. I wonder who the rumored trade target will be this offseason. I look forward to the inevitable 200+ page "Cubs interested in (superstar player)" thread. Considering our struggles at 2B this year it wouldn't surprise me to see Brian Roberts part two this offseason.
  13. I would very much like to play this team everyday.
  14. You are right, we absolutely cannot fall another GAME back today. I guarantee you, it will not happen today! Okay, we cannot afford to fall another half-game back today. Better? :D
  15. Good. Now he needs to stay in the AAA rotation. Maybe in another year or two he'll have improved his stuff and we can give him another chance.
  16. Its ashame we had to lose so much ground this week because it looks like Aramis, Lilly, and Z will all be back this time next week. Maybe Reed too? I suppose if you really think about it, its not over, but we absolutely cannot fall another game back today.
  17. I'm sure I could catch a classic game on MLB Network sometime in January. ;) Who cares. The Packers will be storming their way to the Super Bowl, so the epic fail that was the 2009 Cubs will be out of sight and out of mind. Fixed that for ya. ;) The number of Cubs-Packers fans in this world is crazy. Although I can't really talk about odd combinations of favorite teams since I'm an Orlando Magic and Tampa Bay Lightning fan in addition to the Cubs and Bears lol.
  18. I really hope Lou stays around. Its not his fault Hendry had the worst offseason in recent memory. Sure Lou does some things that are annoying, but I'm pretty sure you'll get that with all managers. As far as GM goes, just anyone but Hendry please. I was starting to become a fan after the Harden trade last year but he simply has not done one good thing since then. And although I think Brenly would do fine as a manager, I rather keep him in the booth with Len.
  19. Even though the season is most likely over, it can still be made a good year if Hendry is fired. :beg:
  20. I'm having a hard time figuring out why more people aren't conceding the season at this point. I put our chances at making the playoffs under 10 percent now. Its just as well though, I rather this team not get lucky enough to make the playoffs only to be destroyed for the third straight year.
  21. This is absolutely a must-win game. But thankfully if the Cubs decide to tank the season this week we at least have preseason football this weekend.
  22. Can someone explain to me what is so great about Alcides Escobar? I'm not seeing it.
  23. This game might be over if Kosuke swings at that called third strike.
