  1. Defense is going to have to make a play.
  2. Chris Johnson has 15 carries for 193 yards.
  3. So much for the Bengals being the easy part of the Bears' schedule.
  4. How does one register five sacks in one game?
  5. I hate waiting until 3 PM for football. :(
  6. you're being really homery in your assessment, imo what about the dropped interceptions in the first half, Nelson and Driver's numerous drops, phantom illegal contact call on Harris, etc. it wasn't worst case scenario for turnovers, Cutler could have ended up with 5 or 6 INTs, for sure with the throws he made. i just hate these scenarios when twelve things break one teams way and you can still say "oh if we had just one or two things go our way we we'd have won!" Not to mention a couple of deep balls that Rodgers (who is usually very accurate with his deep passes) overthrew his receivers. The Packers easily get more than 21 points if Allen Barbre isn't a turnstile at right tackle and letting Ogunleye get into the backfield almost every single play. You can play the 'what if' game both ways. Lol. You don't think Cutler missed some receivers as well? Just admit you were outplayed the entire game until the end. I don't see how you can be proud of winning a game by six points at home while also winning the turnover battle 4-0. You're supposed to win those games by at least 20 points.
  7. I like your optimism, but tomorrw (later today as I typed this) is setting up to be a (impersonating Charles Barkley) "turrible day." With the Bears on early afternoon against the Steelers and the Cubs on late against the Cards, I just have a sneaking feeling that the Cubs/Bears fans are going to hit the sauce abit harder or sooner tomorrow then usually. I hope I am wrong, but I could see both the Cubs and Bears losing tomorrow. I'd feel a lot better if the Bears didn't have the injuries they have. We really need to find a way to be 2-2 going into our bye in week 5. Then hopefully we'll get healthy and have players like Pisa and Clark back no later than week 6 which happens to be the start of a winnable and very crucial stretch in our schedule (Falcons, Bengals, Browns, Cardinals, 49ers). As for the Cubs, not sure about anyone else, but what they do doesn't really affect my mood anymore, even if they are playing the Cardinals.
  8. The Lightning are a mess. Thank God for 2004.
  9. Tomorrow's likely scenario of 0-2 is going to be tough to handle for a whole week, but after that we face the Seahawks, Lions, Falcons, Bengals, Browns, Cardinals, and 49ers all in a row. I see no reason we can't win at least 5 of those 7 games, putting us at 5-4 and very much alive. That said, lets just win tomorrow and give us even more reason for optimism.
  10. Well of course you don't agree with what I said about a healthy Bears team being better than Green Bay. What kind of fan would admit their favorite team is inferior to another? I think it's pretty close. The Bears defense played great yesterday but give credit to McCarthy for calling one horrible game. Everyone knows the weakness of the Bears defense is their secondary and McCarthy stubbornly tried to get the ground game going for the better part of the first three quarters. Urlacher was a big part in stopping the Packers run game yesterday. He looked pretty good last night. That loss will have some pretty big ramifications. He might be on the wrong side of his career, but he's still a pretty good LB. I'm sure you guys will split with us, we'll split with Minnesota, and you'll split with Minnesota. That's the way this thing is going to take shape. Not saying it isn't close, but we had the lead with just a few minutes remaining and all that was after Cutler had perhaps the worst game of his career, at least one of the worst. If he doesn't throw one of the first three picks, its probably enough to give us the win considering at least two of them either took away points from us or turned into points for you. I hope we do sign Brooks. He can be our Jim Edmonds. Some of Cutler playing so bad is because of our defense you realize that right? Why? The Packers' defense was horrible last year. But even if the Packers have a top defense, Cutler has succeeded in the past against teams who run the 3-4, and teams who have a good defense. I contribute most of his struggles Sunday to getting fimiliar with a new team, a couple bad decisions, and some blown routes by receivers. Not saying the Packers didn't play good defense, but other than the Jolly interception I didn't see any spectacular defensive plays.
  11. I'm trying to remind myself that I'm going to be wishing there was baseball on during the middle of January, so I'm trying to enjoy these last 20 or so games, as meaningless as they may be. Its nice to see us heating up a bit. I'm a believer in momentum heading into next season.
  12. I don't agree with most of that, but I do agree with the Urlacher comment. Well of course you don't agree with what I said about a healthy Bears team being better than Green Bay. 14. The Bears are definitely a better team than Green Bay when healthy, but now that half the team is hurt, I'm not sure what to think. The nice thing is we lost the turnover battle 4-0 and still almost won. Hopefully Pisa and Clark are okay. Fortunuately Urlacher is not irreplacable anymore, but Hillenmeyer shouldn't be anywhere on the football field.
  15. Man, I'm so pumped. Not sure there is any better day all year than opening Sunday in the NFL. Although I like baseball slightly more than football, I don't get the same feeling for Opening Day in the MLB.
  16. Are they willing to throw in a QB who has a different bye week than Rivers? Assuming the QB isn't good, its better than taking a zero for that week.
  17. 16 team league, standard scoring. I'm pretty happy with how my draft went considering the number of teams. Also, pretend for now that Polamalu isn't hurt. :D QB-Peyton Manning WR-Randy Moss WR-Donald Driver WR-Earl Bennett (This pick will probably make or break my season) RB-Larry Johnson RB-Ronnie Brown TE-Greg Olsen W/T-Jeremy Shockey BN-Jake Delhomme QB BN-Correll Buckhalter RB BN-Michael Clayton WR BN-Robert Royal TE BN-Josh Reed WR K-Robbie Gould DEF-Dallas BN-Buffalo D-Cortland Finnegan DB-Nick Collins DL-Julius Peppers BN-Troy Polamalu BN-Albert Haynesworth
  18. Stupid schedule. There is no worse way to start the season than by losing to the Packers. On the other hand, there is no better way to start the season than by beating the Packers. If we lose then it only gets worse because we get the Steelers next week. If we're gonna get the defending champions in week two, at least give us week one at home. We could end up being the best 0-2 team in history by next Sunday.
  19. I'm not sure why anyone would throw Soto a fastball.
  20. Does Wells still have any realistic chance at ROY? Happ is hurt, so if Wells can score a few wins, I'd imagine that would help his chances. Of course playing for a non-playoff team doesn't help his chances.
  21. The less people that pick the Bears to win anything, the better off they are. We've all seen what happens to teams that are expected to run away with a division title (2007 Bears, 2009 Cubs). While I do think the Packers will have a good season, I think its foolish to think their transition to a 3-4 defense will be cake, which is the impression I'm getting from some fans and sports writers. That defense was plain awful last year.
  22. I think the standings will end up pretty close to that. Should definitely be a 3-team fight to the end. I'm going to go with: Chicago Bears 11-5 Green Bay Packers 11-5 Minnesota Vikings 10-6 Detroit Lions 2-14 I predict the Bears and Packers split their games and therefore the tiebreaker for the division will come down to division or conference record. I think both wildcards come out of this division. I put the Vikings third because I still think Favre is a question mark to some extent, and we really aren't sure what he is going to do to that offense. Packers will have the best offense in the division, but Chicago and Minnesota will have them beat defensively. As for Sunday's game, I'm going to change the score of my original prediction and say 24-13 Bears, with the Packers beating us at Soldier later this year. That is usually the way it goes with the exception of last year. Go Bears!
