  1. A rendering of the Javy Sperm at the moment of conception: http://www.mlb.com/images/6/4/0/249772640/082117_baez_slide_med.gif
  2. Are the Reds going to trade Billy Hamilton? If not, he would absolutely own Yu if Yu ends up on the Cubs. http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/19288971/for-same-two-minutes-every-game-texas-rangers-yu-darvish-bad-pitcher
  3. It's going to be tough to cool down with our window closing this swiftly.
  4. A reality show. Cubs Bachelor. Kris Bryant has to decide to give a rose to Anthony or Bryce.
  5. It's clearly Pat Venditte.
  6. I'll worry more when Bryce renames his dog Dodger. But this is still kinda infuriating.
  7. That's a good trade for the Cardinals. It's not going to matter. But a good trade, nonetheless.
  8. I like it. Obviously the main issue is with luxury tax implications. But if we get anything out of him in the playoffs this year, this deal becomes a great value.
  9. I like it. The years and $ are right. I'm not too worried about us loading up on guys with high upside that comes with questionable health and durability. We coasted to 92 wins and a division title after Eddie Butler made 11 starts last year. I'm not too worried about missed time dragging us down. Give me the high-level talent and hope they are still standing come playoff time.
  10. From 356 days ago: viewtopic.php?p=142058#p142058
  11. The Cardinals did the same thing in their pitch to Stanton:
  12. That's a really good looking squad. Depth in the pen. Solidifies the bottom of the rotation in a big way. And the same abundance of talent in the field. The dynasty is back on!
  13. That's closer to knowing his name then Javy will ever get. Javy must like fWAR more than bWAR.
  14. Another instance of the Cubs targeting a curveball guy, too.
  15. Mostly the home/road stuff you just posted. Coors is horrible to pitch in and it’s hard to take much away from why he struggled there. But he’s been great away from Coors. Also what ConstableRabbit said about all the grounders, particularly with our infield defense. And he gets a lot of weak contact too. I posted some numbers of his from Statcast home/road splits a while back, and he got way more weak contact away from Coors. Seems like he probably uses movement/stuff to get weak contact. But he doesn’t have the same stuff at Coors so he doesn’t get weak contact. His average exit velocity was like 2 mph lower on the road. And he got a lot more lazy fly balls at higher launch angles on the road. I love this pick up and think Chatwood will flourish outside of Coors. Also when I wrote an article on Hendricks looking to prove he was a true FIP-beater, Chatwood was on the short list of other guys that legitimately got weak contact.
  16. it's a one time signing bonus. a difference of 2.7 M or whatever can easily be recuped/washed out in endorsements, even in baseball. you really think he's going to base his decision on 2.7M when he's passing up 100+M just bc he can't wait? not to mention the fact that he included all those teams in the penalty and eliminated teams that had big pools (when he didn't need to eliminate anyone) either way, what an odd choice in teams if bowden actually knows anything: [tweet] [/tweet] Yeah, if $1 million meant that much, then he wouldn't be coming over now and he certainly wouldn't have included us in his final list. These teams are desperate. They are going to do whatever they possibly can to try to get him. And they are going to come up short.
  17. A.J. Preller traded for Matt Kemp.
  18. lmfao, what? no. signing ohtani literally allows us to do the opposite of that That whole paragraph is so bad. “If the Cubs hit a grand slam and land a potential superstar for nothing, then they’d lose all leverage in any trade talks and have to settle for a bad deal to add pitching they no longer need.”
  19. I guess we can cross former Cub Chris Valaika off the list of people to take to the presentation.
  20. Ohtani is coming here because we're the Cubs and these things just happen for us now. It's also why Bryce will be joining him next year.
