  1. That stinks to hear about Butler. I didn't really have much hope for him. He's not good and his stuff is very underwhelming. But his stuff used to be better. So I had a faint hope that we could unlock whatever is hiding in there, whether it was from Hickey changing something or it just naturally coming out with a move to the pen. Whatever, it's the last spot in the pen. So I really don't care.
  2. Hendricks has a 21/0 K/BB ratio in 15 innings.
  3. I don't think Chatwood will have anywhere near the problems Jake did with controlling the running game in 2015.
  4. This but turn Will Smith into a seal and turn the house into a bounce house.
  5. Tommy's waiting on the call, CBS...

  7. I'm going to go on record and say the Arrieta trade was the best of my lifetime. Yeah, yeah, Sandberg and Sosa both put up 60 WAR or whatever after we traded for them. But I'm willing to multiple everything that happened in 2016 by about 108. Let's not forget that we also got Pedro Strop in that deal, and he's given us 5 straight seasons with a sub-3 ERA and he'll have compiled the 4th-most WAR of any relief pitcher in Cubs' history by the end of this year.
  8. An underrated part of the Arrieta story is watching him transform into god-mode Jake in 2014. We still had no idea what was going on with the rotation then. It ultimately didn't matter because we still sucked that year. But his ascension was huge in shaping the last three years for us. I still can't believe how perfectly all the pieces fit and how quickly our fortunes changed.

  10. If they are done with him and want Butler to get that last bullpen spot I wouldn't be surprised if he's cut before Wednesday this coming week (which is the 15 day prior to OD cut line).
  11. Yeah, this went about perfectly. The whole off-season did really. The Dodgers stood still. We actually stole a couple important pieces from them. We loaded up. The Cards and Brewers both made good trades. But they were also half measures after they stopped there. The Brewers off-season especially seemed so half-assed. Like why sign a 32 year old Cain if you aren’t going to add pitchers, especially factoring in the market tanking on SP. They should’ve added 2 of Cobb/Jake/Lynn or not signed Cain and spent that money on Darvish + Cobb or Lynn still. The Cain signing makes absolutely no sense now that it's come at the expense of signing someone like Arrieta or Darvish.

  13. well, not now Not a believer in Kyle Freeland (who I was clearly talking about)?
  14. Kyle's winning the Cy Young.
  15. Most importantly, horsefeathers Dallas Keuchel.
  16. Unlike the others, Paul Foytack was incredibly undervalued because of the environment he pitched in and because of his ability to induce weak contact?
  17. That’s a nice 90 mph fastball you have there, it would be a shame if someone were to... write an article about it.
  18. lol our twitter shenanigans are newsworthy: http://sportsmockery.com/2018/03/justin-grimm-sensitive-cubs-player-twitter/
  19. Hopefully I don't have a hangover like the Cubs did last year.
  20. We'll see who's laughing after I write an article about how good he is.
  21. Thanks to jersey, I'm now getting dragged on twitter for the first time ever and it's by a Chicago Cub.
