  1. I can't wait to quote all of the doom boner posts about how this game is over, when we win 6-3.
  2. you don't need to come up with a reason to justify mistakes. all baseball teams make them and will make them, not just young ones. they play lots of games and attempt lots of things during those games. Not to mention, sure, that play led to 2 runs. But, you don't know that at the time. It was a dumb play, especially with the bottom of the order coming up. But, it was only magnified by the Markakis double. If we get out of it, then no harm, no foul. It was just shitty sequencing luck the whole inning. Two BS hits and then one bad pitch. The world doesn't end, and it doesn't make Bryant's decision the worst thing ever. It just baseball.
  3. There's been a bunch of infield singles. You can't get "rocked" by infield singles. [expletive] just happens sometimes.
  4. One pitch might have cost them this game That doesn't mean he is terrible. Clayton Kershaw has lost quite a few games. And, have you not seen our offense lately? It's the fourth inning. [expletive]!
  5. 3 runs, two of which came because his defense failed him, is getting rocked? Even excepting the bad play that got us there... 3 runs is getting rocked?
  6. You people are insane. The over-reaction to one bad pitch is hilarious.
  7. He gave up one hard hit ball, after a couple BS infield hits, and a bad play by Bryant to go to second. He's walked none, struck out 5, and got a ton of ground balls.
  8. I think they're all doing 90's music today. Gonna assume someone picked it for Jorge. Ah man, I was picturing a scene where Schwarber was like, "Come on, Jorge, you haven't listened to '90s rap/R&B? You've gotta hear this stuff!"
  9. Since when did Soler start walking up to "Return of the Mack?" Has he been listening to Schwarber's play list?
  10. Valbuena was buried even deeper in the scrap heap and did pretty well and netted us Fowler, too. So I like that one a lot, also.
  11. Coghlan is pretty freaking hot right now. Him and Dexter have been huge in the second half.
  12. pierce johnson seems surprising is he on the radar as a sept call up? Honestly, I'm not sure. But, he is similar to Edwards, in the fact that both have been pretty unhittable throughout their minor league careers. Both have had a bit of a problem with control lately. But, I am wondering if Johnson's stuff might play up a bit out of the pen. And, honestly, I just don't like James Russell. I think Johnson would be better immediately. And then you could have several guys that could go multiple innings out of the pen. That way, you could use Richard and Wood as LOOGY/long men. And I wouldn't have to see Russell come in to face Adrian Gonzalez or whoever.
  13. yes that's exactly it even when things never ever fit those silly ass narratives, people are always looking for them Yeah, the whole narrative thing is what pisses me off the most about meatballery. I can sit there and listen to meatballs talk about thing like TWTW and grittiness and whatnot, and it doesn't really bother me anymore. But, when they start feeding me some narrative [expletive], like they know why things happen they way that they happen, I have a hard time not raging. Lots of teeth grinding when I hear stuff about how certain teams "just aren't ready" and how it's more difficult to beat teams that have "been there before." No, you [expletive] moron, the teams that have been there before are tougher to beat because they are usually loaded with very good players. That's why they've been there before. Not everything happens for a reason. There doesn't have to be a Jordan-over-the-Pistons moment to suddenly transform a team into a championship caliber squad.
  14. I can see why David is upset about this. It is one of the instances that upsets me the most about meatballery. Meatballs have to have everything wrapped up in this weird false narrative. For instance: "This isn't our year. This year is about getting the young players experience. And we will finish .500. And then next year we can compete for the playoffs, and hopefully get some playoff experience. And once we get playoff experience, then we can win a World Series the following year." With that narrative out of the window, now the rationalization for us being good is because Joe Maddon is worth 20 wins? No, you big, sweaty meatball, it's because we are [expletive] good. You don't have to go through some metaphysical transformation from bad team to champion. We are good now because #wearegood. And we were bad because we were bad.
  15. I want Javy, Carl Edwards Jr., and Pierce Johnson all on the playoff roster. Bye, Herrera, Haren, and James Russell?
  16. calm down, that amounts to like, one robbed single http://33.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lflnsoqp8C1qf4elio1_400.gif
  17. Also, Russell is at +1 DRS at short. So, pretty good so far, albeit a really small sample.
  18. Funny, I just did the same thing and posted that Coghlan nugget in another thread. I swear there is nothing he could do to displease the UZR gods this year.
  19. Coghlan rocking a 27.8 UZR/150 at second base so far.
  20. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention, but apparently Arrieta had a 100% ground ball rate tonight?
  21. At what score and in what inning would you not freak out over the most minor incidents?
  22. Javy is 2-3 with a double so far. It's his sixth consecutive multi-hit game.
