  1. And from 1999-2003, Pedro Martinez had a 2.10 ERA and a 1.95 FIP.
  2. Uh oh, Redbirds. We're coming for you. That offense is horrid right now and the LOB% [expletive] is going to come to an end.
  3. http://awfulannouncing.com/2015/wfan-pranked-joe-benigno-hilarious-prank-sabermetrics.html
  4. I should rephrase that a little. I want to see those three in September to see if there is a chance that they might be slightly better than the plethora of replacement- or sub-replacement-level players that litter the end of our bench.
  5. Except, Herrera is just kinda meh at three infield positions defensively, and who cares if he can hit left-handed when he is good for 29 wRC+ left-handed this year.
  6. Dear god, why? They all suck. As do Herrera, James Russell, and Dan Haren. Unless we can retroactively go back to the trade deadline and improve those spots on the roster...
  7. The Giants are going to be 10 games back by this time next week.
  8. Addison Russell wasn't alive when "2 Legit 2 Quit" was released.
  9. It's too bad "Return of the Mack" didn't bring out the best in Jorge.
  10. Though, there are a couple of good options on this team when projecting into the future. And maybe an Addison Russell (or whoever) walk-off homer to win the World Series -- or, you know any big play -- might artificially tilt it in another player's direction.
  11. Agreed. And he seems like a really swell guy, too.
  12. Eh... because Javy? I mean, yeah, I will certainly like him more than Herrera, in the sense that I know, deep down, somewhere, there is a chance he just blasts one into the bleachers. But, he was shown to be really bad last year. Like, he was worse than the guys we already have on the bench. And, even if he is "fixed," the bench is still gonna be pretty bad outside of him. But, we don't really need a bench for more than a pinch hit or two and a couple defensive replacements. So, whatever. I'd rather strike out with a chance to homer than herrara hit a dp with a chance to maybe single Agreed. And that's why I said basically the same thing. But, that doesn't mean he makes our bench good.
  13. 7.61 K/9 this season it's not great but it's not like he can't strike people out It's the same argument I had with Brett. It's not terrible but his swing strike% is like 4th worst among qualified starters. The K/9 stat can be really deceiving. I like Hendricks a lot, I just know there are going to be frustrating unlucky starts because he allows contact. To get back to this, Hendricks strikes out enough guys that this isn't really a problem. He's got a 7.79 K/9. There isn't anything "deceptive" about this. Those guys aren't putting the ball in play, so there is just no way there can be bad sequencing luck on a K. Sure, he is more of a pitch-to-contact guy than a guy that will blow it by you. But he also gets a ton of ground balls, which even with weird sequencing luck, aren't going to hurt you much. And, also, he doesn't walk guys. So by not putting guys on, that weird sequencing luck isn't going to happen as much either. Your worries are unfounded. He has just been a little unlucky. And he is a good pitcher. And weird sequencing luck isn't bound to happen more to him, just because.

  15. Well, Denorfia is, and that's why he's already been used. And our bench sucks.
  16. Oh no, Shelby Miller with a 2-run lead. Whatever will we do?
  17. Kinda helps when they blow an easy DP Yeah, that happens in baseball games sometimes. And it is probably why you shouldn't act like a 2-run lead is insurmountable.
  18. It's too bad this game was already over with Miller on the mound.
