  1. It would be amazing if Free Agent Year Jake is somehow even better than God Mode Jake.
  2. Is the 7-11 across the street gone? From this picture it looks like it. Yes, long gone. it's part of the addison park on clark project, unrelated to the cubs' projects Damn.
  3. Is the 7-11 across the street gone? From this picture it looks like it.
  4. Didn't we do that last year? I don't mind mixing it up a little. Nope Wow. Really? Just assumed after we started like 25-3 or something crazy. Well, then, let's win this one.
  5. Didn't we do that last year? I don't mind mixing it up a little.
  6. I'm still in playoff mode. Because my first thought was Hendricks could then go the rest of the way.
  7. It's too early for predictions, but I'm feeling Heyward has a good AB this inning.
  8. We've had national broadcasts for 18 straight games. I'm ready to get back to Len and JD.
  9. The whole season feeling like it just ended a few weeks ago is so true for me. I've never felt like that with Opening Day, but damn, it feels like the season JUST ended. I figure that has more to do with being content and not having to anticipate that the next year might finally be the year.
  10. Wade Davis has his own injury concerns, but.............Jorge is hurt again.
  11. Unless I missed something, I've just assumed Almora is on the team to start. ETA: what David said.
  12. This video continues to be the reason why I will forever be changed as a sports fan. The Cubs won't be WS champs every season. But to get to experience even one, and to always have this video to watch............finally. It's all good.
  13. It actually was written about in November with quotes from his mother. He was texting and driving at the time. It's so dangerous, but most of us have done it.
  14. This will probably turn out like Jacob Turner but maybe it will turn out like Jake Arrieta.
  15. But then would we be getting him at the cost of a utility player? I'm excited because the upside is that of a legit starter. The downside is the price of a scrub.
  16. cut to the playoffs this year when dex hits a gapper and rounds the bases, bat still in hand, knee capping Rizzo, Russell, and Bryant Can't see the Cardinals trading him in the first few months of a five-year deal, but anything is possible.
  17. So let them utilize all four and try to rebuild the system a little bit rather than just use one for a position that isn't even a need while also spending $18 million to do it. They can keep the pick and utilize it, or they can give it away to sign somebody. I dont care either way. But "we'd lose a draft pick" should not be listed among the negatives of signing anybody, because who cares? Personally, I think Bautista would negatively impact the defense more than he would positively impact the offense. That speaks more to how highly i think of our offense than anything bad about bautista. Id pass. Just not cuz of no draft pick. Agreed. To be clear, I'm not saying don't give up a draft pick to sign a player. I'm saying don't give one up to sign this specific player. That said, I'll never agree that giving up high draft picks should always be in the "who cares" category. Not when we have the guys making the decisions that we do.
  18. Right? Especially since they currently have 4 in the first 105 or so. So let them utilize all four and try to rebuild the system a little bit rather than just use one for a position that isn't even a need while also spending $18 million to do it.
  19. The Cubs seem pretty good at drafting, so I'd rather keep the pick than use it to sign him for one year when the offense should be potent regardless. Would rather spend the money on Ross and Holland and take a chance.
  20. After reading some of the most recent posts, I don't feel so bad now that I still get anxious just thinking about the final innings, let alone watching them. Feels tremendous that we won that. A loss would have been the perfect narrative for Cubs haters or story tellers, about how Joe Maddon's managing can be added to the list with Durham and Bartman and the Goat. Instead, the Cubs won and everything is allllllllllll good pretty much forever now.
  21. I hate Trump yet I still feel joy by the World Series every day, six weeks later. Like literally every day. That might make me a loser, of course, yet I won't apologize.
  22. We won the World Series. This offers nothing to the current conversation. It's just that I love saying it and thinking it.
