  1. Games against the fellow central teams have been a grind so far this season.
  2. Damn. I'm just really looking for one of those RD games y'all love around here.
  3. He has a 1.000 OPS Oh, sorry, he has a 1.000 SLG, and a 1.503 OPS He's making it too obvious.
  4. Not to be a horsefeather, but I'm curious to see how Thames' drug test they administered the other day turns out. It's no coincidence that he was "randomly" tested the other day, MLB officials have eyes and brains too. If he's clean then more power to him for his great start and I apologize for even inferring he wasn't on the level. I like what Riz said about the Marte stuff. You could tell he just wanted to go off but held his tongue, ending it by saying players need to be tested more often. Keep in mind also that he could pass a test and still be juicing. I know he's always been big, but that dude and his forearms are a late 1990s build.
  5. Wait. Are you guys saying Addi hit a home run and not like a single? If you are, this just got even more awesome.
  6. There is nothing better in baseball life than not being able to watch the game and instead of following game cast you come here. When you refresh to see all the joyous posts made, it just feels so good.
  7. This. Based on sofa's last post, I don't think we are getting it.
  8. Based on my poll, it does not appear anybody is.
  9. So how is everybody doing? Duke and David (and I think TT) are still super confident in this talented group, and the sluggish start has not impacted Sofa's humor. Others (maybe even a few players?) are still basking in the glow of the World Series title. But are any of you starting to mentally crack at all or is any doubt starting to creep in, or are most using last season as a teaching tool and realize that everything will be just fine?
  10. If I'm a Brewers fan, most of the guys doing the damage this season are like the wrong guys you want doing well in terms of a rebuild. The potentially talented young ones are mostly sucking, and the sucky ones are doing well but suck. Except for Thames. He doesn't fit either category.
  11. What the Brewers have done in the first inning against the Cubs this series is how I imagined we will be with our 1-2-3 guys when things get into gear.
  12. I'm a moron. Just went and saw Heyward had 27 doubles last season. So, I need to raise the bar a bit more than 25. ETA: But, seriously, how did he have 27 doubles last year?
  13. I'm not good with swings, so I have no idea what to think of Jason Heyward's swing change. I am working on article about him, though. And there's some good stuff going on. Basically, his problem last year was that he hit the ball like a wimp. His walk and strikeout rates were normal. All his periphs were normal. He just hit the ball like a wimp. And he's not this year. His exit velocity is way up. His launch angles are way up. Everything that was bad last year isn't bad anymore. He's not hitting like a power hitter, because he isn't one. So I don't think he's going to go Kris Bryant on us or anything. But his statcast numbers are where they were in 2015. I'd say something like 2014 or 2015 Heyward seems reasonable at this point. A dozen homers, 30 or so doubles. But, I think the extra-base hits will come if he keeps hitting like this. He's hitting it hard, and he's getting the ball elevated more. Thanks. That's what we were looking for. I'd be thrilled with J-Hey hitting 25 doubles and even 8-10 dongs.
  14. Question for Duke. We are encouraged that you think Heyward is fixed as you are good with swings and stuff. Do you think he will start slugging a bit as he gets comfortable with his new swing or are we looking at a pure singles hitter? I'm not talking about dongs, but more a good number of doubles with the occasional triple and/or dong.
  15. Great job, everyone. And great job to the Cubs for halting this thing before it got to 14.
  16. What I meant to say was: "Anderson gives up three runs in the first. The Cubs come back and tie it. Anderson gives up two or three more. The Cubs get within a run a couple times and have multiple chances to take the lead with runners on base. And then the bullpen unravels and we lose 11-6." I'll be honest. The Cubs have to knock this off.
  17. Do people buy into World Series title hangovers or is that just silly stuff? I read the other day the last title team to win the division the next season was 2008. More just a discussion question than one about this team, as they are probably built for the long haul.
  18. Dang man, 24 hours ago you were talking about feeling bad for the Brewers and how we'd dong all over them and dominate.
  19. That would be cool. But I'm not sure that's the way baseball works. Teams can't galvanize under adversity? So the entire storyline of the 2016 World Series Game 7 is hogwash? I'm sure the Cubs are pretty upset with themselves and I can see an unleashing of dongs coming. I just don't see baseball as one where you physically impose your will on someone like perhaps football. Talent wins out more than not, but the Cubs aren't coming out tomorrow more determined to hit the ball harder or pitch better than they were the day before. If it was that easy, they could go on 15-game winning streak any time they want.
  20. That would be cool. But I'm not sure that's the way baseball works.
  21. Probably more like what's going on in his office. Some stuff probably needs to be replaced on Monday. Probably not, since Theo isn't a reactionary moron. Really? From all I've ever read he gets pissed off at a ton of stuff.
