  1. This game has been bad enough watching it on mute. I can't even imagine what you're having to go through.
  2. I fear you have given up on the season. You are starting to rationalize it by telling yourself that it's just a game and that even if the Cubs win it all.........how exactly does anything change? You are starting to think about how weird it is that people get wrapped up so emotionally over something that is just entertainment, and how you'd never walk out of a movie feeling so upset or sad except for the time you saw Marley and Me because you couldn't handle seeing the dog die. Or, maybe, this is how I've been feeling since the playoffs started because I'm a ninnie who thinks about and analyzes the meaning of life too much. It's less giving up and more not making myself miserable by investing in a team that's pretty bad right now. One that I have no control over. And constantly hoping and hoping and hoping on every pitch, every swing that good things will happen is utterly draining to me. Makes sense. Plus you were so emotionally overboard at times during games in June that it's possible you're just emotionally spent and have nothing left to give. But I ain't Dr. Phil so I probably don't know crap.
  3. Two of them started by pitchers we absolutely cannot touch. And that is best case scenario. Rich Hill may be going through his magical R.A. Dickey phase, but I'm not about to put him in the same boat as Clayton Kershaw. I'm starting to feel like it's not about the pitching but just our entire lineup for the most part being in a horrible slump or for some other reason just sucking. I mean, we got dominated by Matt Moore, too, just as much as the really good pitchers. Pretty much every starter has been good against us, and we couldn't even bash Shark that much despite a good start to that game.

  5. I don't. It will get even more annoying if we are the very last team that hasn't won in forever. I mean, 1948 isn't as long as 1908 but it's still really long.
  6. It would be cool if this is one of those games that in a couple hours from now people are laughing at the first 31 pages of this thread and Tim is calling people ninnies. Any chance that can happen?
  7. It's OK to be frustrated by umpires, but I do think the team isn't helping themselves much at all and that it's the real problem at the present moment.
  8. The funny thing is Cubs fans don't like this narrative at all, either. I despise having it be brought up about how long it has been or talk of curses. So the Cubs can do him and us a favor and win it all so we never have to hear about any of this again. Also it's funny that he is painting the Dodgers as the little brother who always gets screwed. Highest payroll. Spent big money on their baseball operations guy just like we did. Go after the same players we do. It was a column meant only to get people riled up, but it's really lazy even if it works.
  9. I really had just assumed the NLCS would be on regular Fox.
  10. This is facinating. Is there a chance he does it as a way to deal with his anxiety toward the games? I assume he wants them to win, right?
  11. Hahahahaha. I said the Giants had outplayed us. I'm an idiot! Hell yeah!
  12. The Believen thing is an interesting marketing idea by the team when you consider they are sort of telling fans not to come out in odd number years because we are going to suck. I'm probably overthinking that.
  13. For me Game 1 was a push. Good starting pitching by both. Also remember that our offense has done almost nothing. It's been our pitchers and backup catcher doing all the damage. I feel like SF's bullpen and offense have been better. It might not be that much better, but better. Game 1 was a push but losing in 13 innings was a decisive victory, got it. And it's the top of the [expletive] 6th inning, Jesus. Hey, I'm not saying they have been THAT much better, but I bet all the important numbers are in their favor.
  14. This makes no sense. Do you think they deserve extra wins for games 3 or 4? Was Jon Lester pitching like Jon Lester luck of some sort? Was us beating up terrible Jeff samardzjia something that wasn't supposed to happen? Seriously, stop. Be better than John smoltz. For me Game 1 was a push. Good starting pitching by both. 16. Is it OK to say that the Giants have been better than us this series despite them being down? I sort of feel fortunate that we are at least taking this to a Game 5 no matter what.
  17. Don't want to ruin it for anybody, but we ended up scoring runs this inning and won.
  18. My bad. Let's kick some ass starting Friday.
  19. That is an amazing, amazing question. Good God, I'd push it.
  20. That got me thinking. How much would one pay for the Cubs to win the World Series? I'd be down for $5,000, and it's not like I make a ton of money.
  21. Probably, but their defense was atrocious. Having Heyward in either RF or CF would have had a little bit of a trickle down effect and at least made their defense a positive out there if they went Grichuck/Heyward/Piscotty most of the year and also kept Wong in the infield where he was one of their better defenders at 2B/3B. True, plus if we believe the addition of toe tapping to Heyward's swing was a big part of his struggles this year, they are probably looking at a more productive Heyward at the plate this year. I didn't even read/hear about the toe tapping thing. Is that a legit reason to why he struggled?
  22. I actually didn't realize the crapshoot thing before last season, and I'm not sure why I didn't. I wish I still didn't know. Everything else you said I also agree with. I wish I was more excited than worried, but it's on me to change that mindset.
