  1. How in the hell is Gotfried recruiting like this? For Anya, NC State was literally the only team still recruiting him. Indiana dropped out a couple weeks ago, so he didn't really have a choice. Come on, a top 40 big man had no other choice? He could have waited until the spring. Someone would have found room. Sure he would of had other choices if he waited until spring but if he wanted to sign during this recruiting period, NC State was the only school still on his list.

  3. I don't think Offman has ever broke a story in his life, I'd take this with a pretty big grain of salt.
  4. It will be in August when Wood is the only healthy/non-traded one. So the Cubs are trading Shark now?
  5. English isn't his first language. No matter how clear they though they were being, he still might have been confused.
  6. Ask about the possibility of more night games at Wrigley.
  7. Is Sutcliffe really that bad? I think I'd take him over guys like Plesac, Stone, Mitch Williams, Hollandsworth, Grace. Pretty much everyone is going to be a downgrade from Bob. Glanville would be good but even he's an unknown at this point.
  8. They haven't raised tickets prices since 2010. It would of been a huge PR hit if they raised ticket prices. People are reading too much into this.
  9. I'm just glad Collin Klein is a senior. Of course, Snyder will probably just pull another QB out of his butt.
  10. Youkilis might be but I doubt he wants to spend next year on a team that's not going to make the playoffs.
  11. His math is right, the signing bonus and buyout are included in the 60 million.
  12. According to her, Kershaw is playing in CF for us tonight.
  13. I highly doubt Soler is going to start at Peoria/Kane County next year.
  14. That's not exactly what he said though. Those were the words Paul Sullivan put in his mouth. Hoyer said we are going to have some money to spend in the off season. He said it most likely won't be a splash but there is money to spend. By the way, between the recap here and the one there, did you catch any other stuff that's important, that maybe was glossed over? Not much. Everything in that summary were the important parts.

  16. He throws left handed, so no.
  17. He's starting and batting 3rd.
  18. There is probably a reason why they are so insistent on trading Garza. They haven't had contract talks in months and he's probably asking for way too much money. If Garza is asking for 20 mil a year, they really have no choice but to trade him for future assets. And maybe the new FO doesn't think as highly of Garza as everyone on this board does.
  19. That guy is either Marlin or stole it from what he said on PSD. Those were Marlin's exact words.
  20. I think you're confusing bending over backwards with "letting the Dodgers bend the Cubs over" That's a good point.
  21. That makes no sense, this trade would already be done if we were bending over backwards to trade him there.
  22. We all better hope so because that is all we have right now. Hopefully Garza pitches well in the next few months and rides out 2012 on a strong note. That is the only way a package will match what we should have and now won't receive at this moment. I still don't understand why people are happy that we are losing out on the ability to trade replaceable talent for prospects. I am especially bewildered when you factor in a trade deadline ripe with uncertainty because it is the first deadline since the new CBA. Agreed. I didn't care either way if they traded him or not but now we don't even have the option of trading him, which was always nice. You never know what a desperate team might offer at the 11th hour. Not being able to shop him is a bad thing, not a good thing.
  23. No frustration with Aramis not wanting tone traded. I doubt the prospects in an Aramis trade would top Pierce Johnson. Plus he didn't lead us on that he wanted to be traded. He made it clear from the beginning that he wanted to stay.
  24. Depends if you want Demp back for 12M/1yr. Personally, I do not. The risk of dangling an offer to quailify for draft-pick compensation to too risky in my mind...Demp could accept and then we'd have a 36YO SP and we'll be back here again next July. Like was mentioned, write a nice check to the Demp Fondation as a mind-changer. The Cubs are neither hindered by rotation space or money to spend, having the ability to keep Dempster around to deal him next year, or to use that threat to encourage a trade now, is definitely a good thing. Why would the Cubs want to go through this whole trade deadline thing with Dempster again next year? Why would it be any different than this year?
  25. That doesn't paint a pretty picture for Dempster and places the blame for this debacle squarely on his shoulders. Without really knowing the details there isn't anything that Wren said that doesn't sound plausible. We don't know exactly what Dempster and Theo had agreed to however other than what Wren said which is second hand. Either way, Dempster nixed a trade that would have benefited the Cubs long term and for that he deserves to hear some crap from the fans (and FO). Death threats though? I highly doubt it and that sounds a lot like a player deflecting some of the immediate crap he thinks is coming his way. I think Eric Gordon Sr. is his PR Guy. Man, you need some new material. I think it fits this situation pretty well, he screwed up and is now inventing some death threats. Have you looked at his twitter timeline? There is some pretty harsh stuff in there.
