Depends if you want Demp back for 12M/1yr. Personally, I do not. The risk of dangling an offer to quailify for draft-pick compensation to too risky in my mind...Demp could accept and then we'd have a 36YO SP and we'll be back here again next July. Like was mentioned, write a nice check to the Demp Fondation as a mind-changer. The Cubs are neither hindered by rotation space or money to spend, having the ability to keep Dempster around to deal him next year, or to use that threat to encourage a trade now, is definitely a good thing. Why would the Cubs want to go through this whole trade deadline thing with Dempster again next year? Why would it be any different than this year?
