  1. the obvious logical choice is to give it to the team with the better record. why is this not happening?
  2. so now all we need is for hendry to say "hey hank do us a favor and put the fear of god into towers and tell him to get this deal done." which, of course, will just require hank to stare at him for 15 seconds or so. really though, wish we could've signed him at that cost. or even a little higher. seems that he wants more playing time than the cubs could offer though.
  3. considering the # of arguments you've gotten into recently, it's easy to mistake your "joke" for being a jerk. what? where have i gotten into an argument? the dumb pie/olson thread that i didnt start? ooooookay buddy! you're doing it right now. but I digress. Kent should definitely be in the HoF. doing what now? telling you that youre wrong? jesus christ. kent should be in the hall of fame, i agree.

  5. quite the convincing argument there! i'm not dextermorgan, buddy, i'm not so easily riled. nice try starting trouble again though but i'm feeling generous, so: 85 more hits 157 more doubles 95 more HR 457 more RBI 40 more walks 60 more points of OPS 9 more points of OPS+ than Ryne Sandberg, in just ~100 more AB's starting trouble??? god why is everybody so edgy here? it was just a joke! that is quite the argument, however. but the question remains... does joe morgan think he's worthy?
  6. quite the convincing argument there!
  7. karros could make a fortune if he ever wanted to sell his video footage from that year.
  8. This thread was chosen because he saw you post in it and it's where you said your PMs didn't work. More than one mod noticed that there was an excess of pointless arguing(accomplishing nothing, cluttering up several threads, and toeing the line of personal attacks from both parties) that spans several pages in multiple threads, and you were a common denominator in most of them. Though it applies to anyone, if you find yourself 8-10 posts deep in an argument/discussion, it's a good idea to step back and see if you're actually still discussing the topic at hand and not just bickering tangent after tangent that doesn't do any good. No I agree, he should have just pointed it out in a thread that it was actually relevant. I also don'tl ike thatcubbieallthewayguy condemning me for other threads when I never did anything wrong in the thread he trashed me for it. He used it as a copout what the hell are you talking about? i replied to someone else effectively saying "i agree". shouldn't your issue be with the other person? so stupid. maybe the internet isn't for you.
  9. Sosa did this as well. no he didnt. all sosa did was take steroids, walk out on his team, shoot innocent bystanders and leave an upper decker in the pope's toilet.
  10. he was never given the chance to adjust Read your PM's. My PMs haven't worked for a while I guess I'll just have to share what I have to say to you with everyone. This is a discussion board, not an argument board. If you can't find a better way of DISCUSSING baseball, you will not be long for this place. Everything has to be a huge argument with you, and it really needs to stop. You've been warned enough times already to tone it down. I'm not sure how many more times you will get. Haha, what?? Some on the board are unnecessarily belligerent. glad i'm not the only who who notices this
  11. fair enough. i haven't seen it yet, that's why i brought it up.
  12. i dont disagree with you guys at all. i'm not trying to discredit the guy. its great to read his thoughts on a more personal setting. i just question whether he's going to tell us something that we dont already know.
  13. Seriously, why would that even matter? The grading scale between a good beat writer and a bad one has absolutely nothing to do with who can break a story first. cause i constantly see the "bruce what do you know about this" or "bruce has hendry said this" type of posts. when in reality, there's nothing to suggest that hendry tells him anything. i just dont get it. If you've followed Hendry's career as a GM, you'll see that Hendry doesn't really share the kind of information most of us are looking for (offseason moves, for example) with anyone. And if he were to share some of his inner most secrets, he would probably share them with Chicago Tribune writers, since the organization is/was owned by the Tribune. exactly my point. hence the not understanding of "bruce tell me what you know" that i see everywhere.

  15. why does everyone think that bruce miles has all the info? yes, i get that he's closer to the source that we are. much closer. but has he ever been first to report an acquisition? ever? i'm trying to remember, and i can't recall one.
  16. uhhhh, what?
  17. i guess i dont understand something about the "keep vitters" camp. he's a 3B. last i checked, we've got a pretty good one there for awhile. sure his contract is up in a few yeasr but he's, arguably, THE fixture in our lineup. if he keeps performing at this level it'd be foolish to let him walk.
  18. None of the guys we've gotten really seem like the kind of guys Towers would want for Peavy. The only move that is even marginal on its own is DeRosa. The others make perfect sense on their own. huh? the pads want pitching, which is exactly what the cubs have acquired. Presumably they want good pitching. All we acquired was minor-league dross no better than what we already had. they wanted olson, that's a fact. we now have olson. coincidence? perhaps.

  20. the padres gm/ceo/whoever can deny it all they want, but there's no way that hendry is just acquiring all these pieces for the hell of it. he obviously understood the roadblock to the trade at the meetings. you dont think that towers said "if you can get these guys and send them to me you've got a deal?" of course he did.
  21. i'm not getting defensive or flustered at all, what are you talking about? We were just having a discussion and then you got all defensive and start talking about me just wanting to argue. Why? Becuase I replied to a post I didn't agree with? Isn't that what internet message boards are for? To discuss and debate things? Whatever, I don't even care. You'r right. Vitters has no chance to be great and he sucked ass last year. the bolded part is why i say youre just looking to argue.
