  1. Tom, you magnificent bastard, you appear to have done it again. =D> http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/edstevensiscool/2-2.jpg
  2. I really like getting 2 1/2 tomorrow and taking the under in the Syracuse/Michigan game.
  3. Too bad Joe Ricketts doesn't actually fulfill any role within the organization nor does he own anymore of the team than any of the posters on here. The trust is between Tom and his siblings.
  4. Really? We are talking about the Tribune here, I'm surprised they didn't give them a longer deal. They proved that they were completely inept at running a baseball team. They did a terrible job of maximizing revenues.
  5. The DH was introduced 40 years ago today. Hopefully we don't go another 40 more before the NL adopts it
  6. He must have lost a bet
  7. Soft Hands, Goldberg http://kidzshowz.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/goldberg.jpg
  8. Is Vitters healthy yet from his ST injury? If he is I hope he is up within the month
  9. Valverde back to the Tigers on a 1 year, minor league deal.
  10. If you could combine any combination of players from the Astros and Marlins this year to make up your 25/40 man roster, I don't think you would even configure a .500 team.
  11. I can't wait until they move out of the FSL.
  12. Just able to catch the game now, how did Jackson look?
  13. Yes. As is so often the case, my worries are unfounded. I wonder if we should have considered a Vitters call-up here. We might be better off vs. lefties with Vitters at 3b and Lillibridge at 2b than this configuration. Then again, Gonzalez has vaguely acceptable career numbers vs. lefties, right down to the peripherals. We should be favored to win this game. We have a better pitcher and our anti-lefty lineup isn't half-bad. Is Vitters even healthy yet?
  14. Is that a dig at Rose? Thibs? The FO? Fans?
  15. Next year, the combined cap hit for Suh and Stafford is about $41mil. Only team with two guys in the top 10 salary cap hits. This year's cap is $123m. Oh, and going back to Flacco for a second. He's not in the top 10 QB salary hits for 2013, he's #9 for 2014 (behind Sam Bradford, FYI), and in 2015, he's back out of the top 10. Mark Sanchez will have a bigger cap hit than Flacco in 2015 (presuming he's not released by then). It's not till 2016 that things get silly. And by then they will probably have worked out another extension with him reducing his cap hit
  16. Figured it's time to do away with the 2012 offseason thread. Might as well keep the extensions/call ups/minor trades and signings confined to one thread instead of creating an individual one for all of them.
  17. What a clown. I am assuming he can't be serious, but she would get absolutely destroyed in the NBA.
  18. He has another arm, doesn't he? Start throwing with that one. But seriously, this is absolutely absurd. You have to wonder how many Japanese HS pitchers have been ruined over the years that could have turned into solid-great major league pitchers if they weren't abused like this before the age of 20.
  19. he only has a contract through next year. if he could stay in shape and be productive, he'd make a [expletive] of money in free agency. instead he seems determined to cost himself $50m because he can't stop eating. Which makes it even more weird, he has to have people around him (his agent?) telling him to just take it easy on the food for the next 10 years and then you can eat yourself into oblivion or else you are going to cost yourself millions. The guy has/would easily be provided if asked 24/7 access to doctors/trainers/nutritionists/cooks and it's a [expletive] embarrassment he can't even just stay in "slightly overweight shape." I get baseball doesn't require you to be in crazy great shape and be some athletic specimen (plenty of guys have had long careers without seemingly ever trying to be in shape) but it seems Sandoval would be wanting to get into as best of shape as possible with the contract looming knowing his bat is ++ at a premium defensive position. Even if he's producing with his body I'd imagine teams aren't going to offer him as much knowing that carrying weight like that puts him at an added risk for injury/earlier career decline.
  20. I like Kuchar for the non-Tiger group/not totally popular pick. But I agree, Garcia has had a great year. Would be awesome to have a Garcia/Tiger final pairing on Sunday. Gun to my head, I'm picking Tiger though.
  21. I still can't get over how [expletive] huge Sandoval got in the offseason. He has to be close to 300lbs
  22. You can never rule Thompson out of anything. He might take a kicker after the year Crosby had last year. I think Trufant or Reid could be picks for them as well.
