  1. Was the deal structured the way it was simply because it was most important to Zell to maximize his tax advantages/savings/deferring profit on a sale or did the sale have to be structured a certain way due to Zell/Trib/Parent company being in bankruptcy?
  2. Javy decides to steal 3rd, because, why not.
  3. dat sound Ball truly sounds different off his bat than most other players
  4. I really like to hear we are linked to Beede, he's been my #1 guy for us to take since before his season started. But like as others have said he might be pitching himself to a point that he's not there at #4.
  5. I think that would skew the talent even more, the New York's, LA's, Brooklyn's, etc. of the world would probably be pushing mid-high hundreds of millions in salaries per year (I think with the salary cap taxes NY/Brooklyn are over $100 mil this year). I don't think the small markets could operate on payroll budgets like that and also guys want to play in big markets still in the NBA. LA/NY/DAL/Brooklyn/etc, would be offering Lebron like $40-50 mil annually in a uncapped market this offseason. He'd probably be worth it too. I think you'd wind up with the same situation we are in now, the top guys would all go to big markets the middle tier guys like the Rudy Gay's, Iguodala's, Josh Smith's of the world would probably still wind up on the low/mid level teams that have no chance to compete but would be making $10+ mil more a year in a non cap market. The best way to "fix" the NBA, for those that don't like it, IMO, would be to condense the league/talent and eliminate 4-6 teams. I think the talent is too spread out and the product is being affected.
  6. Def, is Lilly's role with the Cubs more FO oriented or player development oriented? If he's in player development I'd like to see him get his hands on Z
  7. Cabrera, Leal, Wells
  8. Something like a Korver/Mike Miller hybrid?
  9. His last like 2-3 weeks he's been putting up really good numbers. He has to be averaging like mid 20's for points and mid-high teens for boards.
  10. MSU was my choice before the year if they were healthy, which they appear to be now. I really haven't seen much else out of any other team to really sway me, so that's why I'm picking MSU.
  11. The pen is really shaping up to be strong. Let's hope they don't get over-worked too early. I'm much more optimistic about this team than I was this winter. I think they will struggle mightily to score runs, but I think they will be in most ball games. The starting pitching is awfully blah, and the offense is a serious challenger for the worst in the league. I want to believe, but it's hard. Yeah, I just don't see this team finishing any better than the 65-70 win range. Starting pitching is below average, offense is league worse level, bullpen should be above average-good, defense is probably average.
  12. IU declined a CBI invite apparently As did Marquette after not getting invited to the NIT
  13. Florida, MSU, Creighton, Louisville in my first run through with MSU over Louisville in the championship. Not a ton of upsets, biggest one in round 1 for me is Arizona st over Texas. Have New Mexico beating Kansas in round 2, though.
  14. I could be mistaken, but I think they have around $10 mil of cap space left even after adding peppers. They still should have some money to add guys.
  15. That strikes me as a much more difficult shot to bank, IMO. Yeah the angle on that is tough to bank, he just short armed it. Gotta have some more touch and get it above the rim.
  16. Wood will go #2 So I guess that means EJax 3rd, Hammel 4th, and ?? 5th (assuming Arrieta can't get enough work in to be ready) Rusin? Villanueva? McDonald?
  17. What's Carolina's cap situation?
  18. I think it would be wise to have Villanueva learn a few positions in AAA since, by all accounts, he is an excellent 3B defender. Seems like there is a distinct chance he is blocked at 3B by someone at the ML level long term, but if his bat plays up to some reports this offseason he could be really valuable as a DeRosa type "super-sub." I'd like to see him get some time in the corner OF spots, 2B, and 1B.
  19. I think if Wisconsin wins the Big Ten tournament they take the 1 seed from them
  20. My expectations for Lake are somewhere between Carlos Gomez pre-2012 (sans defense) and Starling Marte last year.
  21. Anytime you can get Freddy Galvis more ab's, you just gotta do it.
  22. They'll likely give double byes to the top 4, single byes to top 10, and make the tourney 5 days Dammit, yeah that makes sense. Yeah it will probably be how the ACC is doing it this year, start Wednesday with the top 4 seeds getting double byes and not having their first game until Friday.
  23. I think it was either a curve that didn't curve or a change up that stayed up
  24. LOL, Browns. Accidentally had their FA board in the background of a presser. http://chicago.barstoolsports.com/files/2014/03/browns.jpg http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24480142/did-browns-show-their-fa-board-during-press-conference
