  1. Sounds like a Cashner trade is close but no team has been identified as a destination yet
  2. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0nlblA3221qc41a4o1_400.gif
  3. I really want to give him the benefit of the doubt that it's just a translation/language barrier thing but response like this from athletes who've done similar things seems to be their MO so you have to think he knows exactly what he's saying
  4. Jesse Rogers also tweeted it was a "tough" press conference
  5. There's like maybe 5,000 people at the Cardinals-Mets game right now

  7. I'm not really all that worried about Heyward other than the fact it sucks he's sucked offensively most of the year but I'm not worried he's suddenly turned into Darwin Barney at the plate for the rest of his career or even this season. He's too young, talented and hard of a worker to not turn it around if not this year, at least for how ever many more years he's on the team.
  8. Joe also added in his interview that he/they hope Rondon starts throwing more of his pitches in the new role and doesn't throw the FB as much as he was as a closer. I do wonder since his innings have been relatively limited and the fact they mentioned him expanding his repertoire if they may start trying to use him for multiple innings at some point down the stretch/playoffs here.
  9. Joe on the score right now seems pretty set on Chapman purely being a closer and not pitching in other spots. Only deviation it sounds like on occasion having him go 2 innings and pitch the 8/9 or come in at some point in the 8th and come back for the 9th. Doesn't sound like Strop or Rondon have set innings, i.e. 7th inning or 8th, but will come in based on situations
  10. I just thing his swing/timing mechanism(s) are just all out of fuckig whack. The big question for me is if it's something he's consciously trying to mess with or subconsciously doing
  11. Joe wouldn't have pitched him either. He's going to lose us a playoff series pulling this [expletive]. In a playoff series he might and if he doesn't Rondon or Strop is almost certainly in. #TrickleDownBullpenOmics
  12. If Szczur doesn't run for Rizzo, Heyward is in CF and probably lasers one home there
  13. Maybe Heyward should try hitting right-handed
  14. it still makes me sad that ramirez wasted his mojo on 2014. it was damn good. sad for him, i mean. Yeah it's too bad, he might have had more talent that anyone in the bullpen minus Rondon and now Chapman obviously
  15. I believe so, along with Maholm and Gorzellany and I want to say the revered Ian Snell
  16. Good Grimm being back would give us an absolutely monstrous bullpen
  17. Rondon is certainly saying all the right things and couldn't be coming off as more likeable right now
  18. Wasn't there also some weird story about him in Cincy that he got like robbed and tied up or something in a hotel room and like was missing for a day or two?
  19. You might not be wrong, but I don't think it particularly matters. Chapman is not a good guy, this is the worst but not the only data point in that regard. He put his hands around the woman's neck as part of an argument, shot a gun in frustration, and (this might be a previous incident) hurt his hand punching a car window. Anyone not comfortable or happy with him on the team because of it is not unjustified, especially given the culture around domestic violence and extra especially with celebrities/athletes. It doesn't mean that's the one true interpretation, but debating the minutiae of that incident is not a winning argument, because even if you're right the people upset are still not wrong. I'm now remembering some crazy ESPN magazine article or something talking about how insanely strange his day to day life is in the offseason. Does anyone remember what I'm talking about? I remember that from a few years back. It was either an article or like E60 thing. He basically like just sits around his house all day that like him and 7 of his family members live in, in Florida and he smokes a horsefeathers load of cigs
  20. I'd be very shocked if they only ever use in him the 9th inning/save situations. Especially in the playoffs I said this earlier but I think Chapman should be the defacto closer but used situationally in high leverage situations against LHB as needed. In those situations Rondon switches to closer. Technically he could be used in all high leverage situations, but the Cubs have multiple guys that kill righties so i think its ok to save Chapman for the final 3 outs in those situations but would be willing to do either. I just think Chapman wants to close and if we want to resign him this might be a good compromise: OPS against (very basic stat I know) vs. RHB Edwards: .352 (VSSS) Rondon: .379 Strop: .445 I mostly agree with this, it's going to be situational but he's not just going to "close" games. I could especially see a scenario in the playoffs where say Lackey/Hendricks goes through 5 innings and we are playing the Giants then Crawford/Posey/Belt are due up in the 6th. I could definitely see Chapman coming in to pitch the 6th and 7th inning of that game then finish it off with Strop/Montgomery/Wood/Edwards and Rondon in the 8th/9th.
