  1. Theo is gonna have to make another one of his Matusz apologies in front of the team again for Anderson, isn't he?
  2. Just let Szczur pitch the rest of the game, save the bullpen
  3. He's def be on my short list
  4. Yeah Greinke is a guy who really interests me. Obviously they have to eat some of his salary but I like him as a target. Kinda want Stroman or bust though.
  5. I said in the GT last night that it seems like Russell is really getting beat by, and teams are attacking him, up in the zone a lot lately. Anyone have stats to back this up?
  6. Great hire for them, hopefully they keep Lowe. Him + Woj and whoever they bring over from The Vertical is the best in the business by far and it isn't really close.
  7. Yeah I feel mostly good. Starting pitching looks to be getting a little better, the bullpen is elite, the defense is/will be elite, everyone has been and seems pretty healthy. Even though the offense has been a little down here and there they are still taking a lot of walks/working pitchers and most guys underlying stats don't show anything to get overly worried about and in fact most guys are showing they are going to hold their value/are stabilizing and are going to be very good for a long time and are even showing things that they will still get better, other than Javy (which wasn't hard to predict or see coming). Also the rest of the division sucks and other than the Nats so far the rest of the NL looks pretty bad.
  8. A few thoughts on Hendricks..... if we are going to assume it's part of a plan for these guys to be throwing softer right now could that explain the increase in walks? A guy who was so precise last year altering even little things to take a tick of velo off could be affecting his ability to locate or if they told him to take some velo off maybe being a little more wild is part of the plan? If he's throwing mid-80s he knows he can't be in the zone as much as those are easier velocities to hit so he's attempting to be a little more wild to induce chasing? Again just trying to look at it from a pitchers are fine, the drop in velo is part of a plan and not all of them are dying point of view.
  9. I was watching the Red Sox feed online the other day. And their announcers were talking about Benintendi. And they said they'd talked to his dad, who was in town, and he said the Cubs had told them before the draft that they were going to take him if he were still around at 9. Theo, Jed and Jason absolutely loved Benintendi, probably on Schwarber-levels pre-draft. They saw him at Fayetteville like 3 different weekends, which is unheard of when you're picking that "low." Makes you wonder if there was a Eckstein123 situation going on in Boston at the time
  10. I was watching the Red Sox feed online the other day. And their announcers were talking about Benintendi. And they said they'd talked to his dad, who was in town, and he said the Cubs had told them before the draft that they were going to take him if he were still around at 9. I remember being heavily linked to him for that draft, not as much as the broadcasts have talked about. But remember it as part of the horsefeathers pitchers philosophy fully resonating with me at the time, and with most on the board, and just taking the best college hitter and he seemed to be the guy the FO most loved (wouldn't doubt if they would have taken him over even Swanson, Bregman and Rodgers if all were available with the pick). Happ doesn't look to be a bad consolation prize with where we were picking but man having Benintendi would be sweet.
  11. The Rangers are sending down Profar after picking up Pete Kozma who was DFA'd. I know there's been injuries and some disappointing performance, but they really seem to be screwing with his development. Don't think he has a ton to prove in AAA anymore.
  12. Rizzo could've hustled a little more fielding that and taken it himself and/or Uehara should've had better footwork/gotten there faster and it wouldn't have been particularly close
  13. Overall Pedro was pretty good there though. All things considered. Don't like using him as a "fireman" guy and think he should be starting innings ideally as he needs some margin for error. But he got K, BB, weak grounder and weak grounder.
  14. Don't know why Strop didn't, especially because he was warming up right away. Uehara couldn't locate for horsefeathers. I hope this wasn't some stupid gut/sentimental thing Joe did that costs us because he wanted Koji to get one more outing at his old stadium.
  15. Seemed like Rizzo could've gotten that out pretty easily if he just charged that ball and took it himself
