  1. Familia back to Mets 3/30, Kelly to Dodgers 3/25. Let the RP run begin. Not interested in either of these guys at all, Familia has a DV record and Kelly is just right handed Justin Wilson. So glad they’re off the board and maybe takes 2 teams out of the market for the better RPs that we might be talking to.
  2. I don't have a deep knowledge of the system but know the guys who are already known or on radars so with that I'd go.... For pitcher I'd say Marquez. A lefty that is hitting triple digits and shown an ability to start so far and seems to have good command at only 19, that's pretty rare. The upside is huge, however unlikely, and I'd gladly take him being just a really good relief pitcher down the road. Position player I'd say Davis since there seems to be so many raw tools there, almost went Roederer and overall I'd say I am higher on him at least getting to the majors and being useful but Davis probably beats him out for upside.
  3. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]Corbin got $150 million, McCutchen $50, and Lance Lynn $30. I'm finding a hard time buying in to collusion right now.
  4. Yeah, I don’t get this. i think it probably has to do with their presumably having more tradeable money than we do. Like we would have to work pretty hard to move enough money (heyward, chatwood etc) while they can surely find a taker for Puig without much trouble. Puig is the only guy who's making money that's all that easy for them to move, so he'd be like Zobrist for us in the likely not being hard to move category but ideally want to keep. Kemp has to be close to Chatwood in how hard he would be to move, he has only one year left but makes $21.5 million with a $20 million LT hit. The rest of the guys making money they can't or won't really move (Kershaw, Turner, Hill, Jansen, Ryu).
  5. It’s tomorrow, maybe we’ll lose a guy or claim a guy. I don’t really care. Here’s a Cubs primer and another overall MLB one
  6. I’m starting to think he’s really going to be on the team next year. Or at least serve his suspension with us and then maybe gets moved when it comes up, like Osuna. Gross.
  7. I know it’s Gonzales’s razor phone so it’s hard to tell but that bald guy kinda looks like Harper’s dad that he’s with
  8. I’m in for this. Or something like Schwarber and Q for an Indians pitcher or those two for Jon Gray How about Scwarber and Quintana for Camargo and Teheran. Gives the Braves the slugger they want, gives us another versatile player. Opens up possibility of trading Zobrist, Russell, and/or Happ and makes room for signing Harper. Not interested in that at all. I do think the Braves are a fit for a Zobrist trade though to clear money. Something like him for Fried I’d do. Then sign a Galvis or Dietrich guy to be the flexible bench player.
  9. I don’t think they gave up anything special for him, but the Reds seem to really be trying to win this year. For some reason.
  10. My thinking as well and probably gotten at least like Zach Short out of it and maybe even a better prospect
  11. Bud Norris being a horsefeathers aside, all those guys stink. I’d rather just Iowa shuttle their roster spot.
  12. A limited one. Do we know anything about it? How many teams, or which teams are rumored to be on it? I'm guessing not... It’s just the Cardinals a dozen times
  13. I would not be too keen on moving Alzolay, because I think he can be a big part of the 2019-2020 Cubs, but I'm totally down for them using Amaya for this. He's a fun prospect but he's quite far away and also I tend to think a lot of TINSTAAP principles apply to catchers as well as pitchers. Agree, idk if I attach him to Chatwood as there should be enough other stuff to make that work to move him but obvisouly if Chatwood needs to be moved for Bryce I’d do it. But I definitely attach him to Heyward and don’t think twice about it. And realistically Amaya is far more likely closer to a Manny Pina, Maldonado, etc type once he’s major league ready vs a Realmuto or Willy or Grandal, that’s not exactly hard or expensive to replace.
  14. Yeah they’ve been rumored to be in on DJ
  15. Dr. Nick oversees our medical department. Tulo should be in the clear.
  16. A Muncy-Martinez right side of the infield would be something to take in
  17. I would assume this would be to clear an OF spot/money for Bryce
  18. That's not what he means, unfortunately:
  19. They’re in a bit better spot this year and next currently (not by a ton) but they probably have more things to spend on this offseason than us (starting catcher, 2B, SP and RP are all needs) 2 years from now is the same in terms of committed money. Under Friedman I’d say they definitely don’t have nearly as much of an FU approach to money as we’ve had. Ownership can change that obviously, but FO wise we’ve shown more willingness to spend.
  20. I’ve seen a decent amount of articles about how Puig, Pederson, Kemp and Verdugo are being shopped. I’m sure, and yet the Dodgers are constantly considered “front runners” while the Cubs are “unlikely” despite the same numbers of hurdles for both teams to clear I mean this right here is kinda saying that.
