  1. I’m buying in on the Dodgers stuff it seems like you started freaking out when the winter meetings ended, but i think the fact that the cubs did nothing at the meetings makes it more likely that they're in on bryce. I hope you’re right
  2. Not getting Bryce and ending up with freaking Descalso or Tulo who signed bryce I’m buying in on the Dodgers stuff
  3. what are you freaking out over Not getting Bryce and ending up with freaking Descalso or Tulo
  4. That could be something I could get behind in the more likely looking no Bryce offseason. The ideas and reasoning behind it certainly makes sense.
  5. Other than being able to get rid of Russell there’s nothing good about this move. Tulo is washed up, but I guess he’s a name who use to be good so will get fans excited when we don’t spend on Bryce or anyone else good. Other than being able to get rid of cancer, there is nothing good about chemotherapy. Tulo still projects as an above average player. Bring him to camp, hope that a Zobrist type workload keeps him vaguely healthy, and if it fails go grab a more typical backup SS like Adeiny Hechavarria in June. There's literally no downside here. You and other Cubswin aren’t wrong and I’m being reactionary. I’m just upset it seems more likely we aren’t getting Bryce and horsefeathering Tulo, Descalso and a underwhelming RP (Soria) and maybe a backup C will be all we do because we are poor. Even though those moves keep as us as good as or better than the 95 win team we were last year, in all likelihood.
  6. Lol
  7. Tulo costs the league minimum and lets us fire Russell into the sun. He would be a phenomenal signing. Other than being able to get rid of Russell there’s nothing good about this move. Tulo is washed up, but I guess he’s a name who use to be good so will get fans excited when we don’t spend on Bryce or anyone else good.
  8. He’s Machado’s brother in law, fwiw
  9. horsefeathering Hendry/Tribune era offseason moves. Miss on Bryce and sign some washed up guy like Tulo
  10. This is Hendry/Tribune era Cubs offseason horsefeathers. God damn it
  11. He was okay last year, can take a walk and his statcast/batted ball data looks good. He makes us better if he’s just in the Tommy role and like I mentioned adding him could be the trigger to moving Happ one Zobrist to clear money.
  12. Seems like a signing we make with a trade of Happ or Zobrist being sent out soon after
  13. KBO where he can hit 150 Dongs a year for a decade
  14. Yeah a structure like that is probably their best chance and the opposite structure is probably what we are offering him, lower amounts the first 1-2 years then big jumps. They probably would still need to offer him to most overall money too (~$50 mil more than us or Dodgers or whoever) in case of an injury or something and he was stuck there.
  15. I can't imagine a big spending GM/owner getting all hot and bothered about missing out on a free agent to the White Sox. This isn't Steinbrenner and the Red Sox or Mets in the 90s/00s. I don’t think it’s the threat of losing him to the White Sox, it’s putting out a team that has money as being really interested to drive up the price and expedite the process possibly. The White Sox get to act like they’re relevant to their fans to drive interest because they were in on a premier FA and “are close to being relevant.” Their season ticket renewals are probably due around now, doesn’t hurt to dangle the Harper/Machado apple out there for fans to renew under the assumption something big might happen.
  16. I have MLBN on quite a bit in the background during the day while I work. DeDosa is on a lot. I don’t know why he has a perception around him of being a coaching candidate in waiting. He says the dumbest horsefeathers. Like he seems like he’d get along with guys fine and seems like a fun and normal dude he just seems like an idiot whenever he’s talking baseball.
  17. He’s 26, but had some good K numbers in AA/AAA last year (first time in AAA). Seems to be a little wild though. Throw him in the Iowa shuttle bin I guess.
  18. Yeah, idk how you see the owners using the LT as a soft cap and think a hard cap will help teams spend more. If anything the players will get less because there would a finite amount of dollars to spread around with a cap. There just should be no cap with none of these stupid penalties.
  19. i mean those are all things that if the white sox don't check, neither do the cubs lol I view the Cubs as a far better "location" draw than the White Sox in terms of Wrigley and just generally the stage the Cubs are on vs the White Sox and also don't the White Sox have some of the worst ST facilities in all of MLB? Or am I confusing them with someone else?
  20. If they get him I'm 99% sure it's going to be because they offered him the most money by a large margin (like $75-100 million more).
  21. I’ll take boxes he White Sox don’t check for $500, Alex [tweet] [/tweet]
  22. [tweet] [/tweet]
  23. Seems like you’re generic LOOGY. Kills lefties and righties kill him and he only averages mid 80s on his FB.
  24. [tweet] [/tweet] Ignoring the White Sox part, the info about being creative is interesting. Since we likely have to in the first year or two.
  25. ROFL we can't get Harper because we didn't sign Billy Hamilton? That’s the same logic the idiots Rogers and Mooney used when we didn’t sign Chavez. “How can the Cubs not have spending issues when they can’t afford 2 years and $8 million for Chavez.” Complete ignoring that maybe in early December not giving a 36 year old RP 2 years and $8 million is portably the smart thing to do and not jump at.
