  1. I'd like to think I'm as disgusted as everyone else by this, the potential Sinclair news, etc. But I also think it's pretty easy to make statements like this in the middle of December. For better or for worse, I dealt with Chapman, I dealt with Murphy, I've dealt with Russell even knowing parts of how he was a scumbag. Wrigley is my favorite place in the world, I finally got bleacher season tickets after waiting 15 years last year...this all makes me pretty sad, but I know I'm not able to give it up. I'm not going to pretend I'm not enough of a hypocrite to just switch off a lifetime of Cub fandom over all of this, but I am dead serious about not directly giving the team any of my dollars. Yeah, I'll watch games, but I'm not paying for a damn thing. Yeah, it’s how I feel. I’ll still end up getting MLB TV so I can watch, but the yearly trip or 3 to Wrigley for games I’ll reconsider doing other trips and won’t be buying any new merch or apparel or whatever.

  3. Get him the horsefeathers out of here, Jesus horsefeathering Christ.
  4. Isn't this just talking abou t the new NBC network with the other 3 teams? That is the one being talked about as pretty much done. The Cubs one is not being talked about in nearly the same way. Also LOL about paying more for NBCCH minus CHC Oh yeah. You are right. That’s for the new White Sox/Bulls/Blackhawks. I just completely misread the tweet. And yeah lol at charging more while taking the Cubs out and seeing those 3 teams ratings numbers in the Athletic article.
  5. This seems like a pretty specific thing to have on the deal for it not to be essentially done. Hopefully the Sinclair thing isn’t true and some other not entirely horrible and evil company (because whoever gets it will still suck, just not as much) actually is the one who gets it.
  6. Yeah idk if this is necessarily good or bad. They knew they likely weren’t coming along with whatever the Cubs did. So they had to go get set up with something, hopefully it means we have something solid coming to a close but could mean we are just scrambling because it somehow got fucked up on our side
  7. Hopefully this is good news that whatever we have been planning on is coming together and not just like plan D after it fell apart
  8. So we have a new deal???
  9. If he’s taking the LaStella role it’s hard to see how this is a bad move. Hate is a strong word, but why not just keep Tommy at less money? Because he sucks. He can’t play defense anywhere and if any of these batted ball/swing changes stick for Descalso he’s quite a bit better (which I’m assuming we have bought in to, to a degree by signing him). Descalso walks just as much, can play multiple spots without falling over and can actually do damage when he makes contact and not just hope a soft line drive or GB finds a hole.

  11. It really isn't. If he’s taking the LaStella role it’s hard to see how this is a bad move.
  12. Crack job as always, Bob. Jesus, he’s just running with the no money thing with us in every move like there’s no context between having no money for Bryce vs filling out the rest of the roster on low cost moves. [tweet] [/tweet]
  13. Without Russell, Descalso is at best the 4th best shortstop on the roster. Yeah Bote is the guy for the main backup SS role, imo. Maybe they still add some guy with minor league options to ST to have a better option but Bote/Descalso as the early season back ups are fine. This move really leads me to believe they plan on bringing Russell back, Bote/Descalso/whatever options we have are real backup SS options for a full season.

  15. He had the same xWOBA as Zobrist last year and was better than Javy, Willy, LaStella and Happ.
  16. Hard to hate this move for that little of money. Even if it’s just for the LaStella replacement, it makes the team better. Hopefully something bigger is cooking with a contract being moved though.
  17. I would have been more than fine with us doing that deal if/when we don’t get Bryce
  18. The Field has 2nd best odds too. So you get Yankees, White Sox, Astros, etc in there. If you bet it.
  19. Wonderful
  20. He gets hurt as often as Soler [tweet] [/tweet]
  21. Because of the opt outs for him the next two years he only gets a partial no trade list. And yeah I had the same reaction to that article, the tweet and headline made it seem like a new rumor but it seemed to just rehash the rumor from last year.
  22. Agree, they really should be in on Machado but I know their owners legit have no money. Lowrie or Pollock would be a solid addition there. But Conforto/Nimmo/Ramos/Cano/Frazier isn’t a bad core of the offense, it’s limited but fine. Biggest thing, as always with them, will be if the pitchers stay healthy to be a playoff contending team.
