  1. I really want to see Cashner get a start sometime shortly after the all star break
  2. What report? Riley and LBJ tomorrow morning
  3. When was the last time we won a series in AZ? Have we ever swept a series there?
  4. So I am flipping between watching the Cubs game and Giants and Brewers game and Andres Torres is hitting .278/.376/.463 for a .839 OPS with 5HR 242B 43B 17SB 27RBI.
  5. Regular season wins don't always matter when it comes to the playoffs. Two times in a row Cleveland had a great record and did squat in the playoffs. In the playoffs, Cleveland's lack of secondary options means that a good team will beat them 4/7. This is much harder to do in the regular season. The playoffs are about matchups. Cleveland doesn't match up very well against playoff teams. All I said was I think the Bucks are better than the bulls The Bucks aren't bad. Is Redd going to bet he 2 and Salmons the 3? Redd will never suit up for the Bucks again. Their starting lineup will probably be: B. Jennings PG J. Salmons SG C. Maggette SF D. Gooden PF A. Bogut C Bench: Douglas-Roberts Ridnour Mbah a Moute Ilyasova Sanders Hobson Gallon Delfino That's probably a top 4-6 team but not top 3.
  6. What kind of contract could the Bulls sign Ray Allen to and still be able to get Lebron at the max?
  7. Marmol is a closer, he is tied for 21st in the league for saves, closers get saves, therefore Carlos Marmol isn't an all star closer.
  8. It's according to Newsday...so maybe They also mentioned it on Outside The Lines 15ish minutes ago. They may have referenced the Newsday report as their source though, I can't remember.
  9. It would be awesome to have Lebron in Chicago, but if he doesn't come and as long as the "superteam" thing doesn't happen the Bulls could still make out pretty well in FA. Adding one of D-Wade/Ray Allen and one of Chris Bosh/David Lee/Carlos Boozer would still make them a title contender.
  10. Who are some realistic possibilities to take Hendry's spot if/when he gets fired?
  11. Yeah I mean this team right now has talented guys and hasn't had many injuries, but 2006 we had guys like Jerome Williams, Les Walrond, Glendon Rusch, Neifi, Macias, etc. getting regular starts.
  12. In the infamous words of Bob Brenly, "Dead Ass Team!"
  13. Agreed. And why the hell don't these guys have one of their boys be a designated driver? A lot of pro athletes have at least 3-5 people with them at all times, why not make one of them drive you everywhere? There's no reason to ever have a DUI when you make that much money. Really never an excuse, but especially when you can afford a driver or at least a limo or cab. They don't even need to have "one of their boys be the DD" just hire a [expletive] limo/driving service. I agree though, professional athletes should never be in a position to have to be driving themselves around after drinking/partying/doing drugs/being drunk or high/etc.
  14. I could see the Brewers as being the vaunted "mystery team." Jack Z used to work in the Brewers FO and is largely responsible for building their minor league system over the last 5-10 years, so he knows that system inside and out. Doug Melvin could lose his job if the Brewers don't at least finish at .500 and they need another starter behind Gallardo.
  15. I agree he is never going to have a great OBP, but his OPS is currently over .900. I was never high on him in the minors and I still am not sold that he is much more than a good 4th OF but at this point in the season I think he should be given more starts to see what type of player he can be.
  16. I'm not convinced at all he'll be successful at it, but I am certainly convinced he should be given the chance. I couldn't agree more. I'm very worried by the fact that Colvin strikes out a ton, but he has shown much more power than I expected and he should be given a chance to prove whether he can perform well over an extended period of time. Even though he has been striking out a good amount, he has shown an ability to still take a walk and work a count which is something that his career minor league numbers wouldn't have predicted. I wouldn't exactly say he's shown an ability to take a walk. It's not wretched, but he's not walking much. He's not walking at Barry Bonds rates, but 11BB in 130PA for him isn't all that bad considering he literally never walked in the minors. Given a full season of ab's he is on pace for around 50BB which isn't horrible.
  17. I'm not convinced at all he'll be successful at it, but I am certainly convinced he should be given the chance. I couldn't agree more. 18. It's becoming clear that Colvin needs to be in the lineup just about everyday from here on out. It's too bad that 4 of our top 5 offensive players are in the OF this year and that replacing one the 3 OF with Colvin right now likely won't make the team all that much better when considering it means one of Byrd/Fuk/Soriano is out of the lineup when Colvin is in. Who would be easier to trade in terms of not having to pay much, if any, of their remaining contract and also being able to get back something of value, Byrd or Kosuke?
  19. I thought the Cubs were getting a guy who kept a tight clubhouse in Lou Piniella. He really has softened in the last couple years. I don't think he has the energy or will to keep a tight ship anymore. I just can't believe he let Ramirez bring a gun to the clubhouse. That has to be illegal. Zambrano killed a guy with a trident. I've been meaning to talk to him about that. He should probably find himself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because he's probably wanted for murder. Things really escalated quickly
  20. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a few starts in the near future, but I have a feeling he will be relegated to set-up duties for the most part and likely won't get a start until like late August or September when we are closer to being "officially" out of it.
  21. This may have been Wells last start for a long time. Will be interesting to see if they would put Cashner in the rotation or put Gorzo back in.
  22. Jermaine Dye is in Jermaine Dye territory because Jermaine Dye is an outfielder who can't play the outfield and teams aren't looking for a 53 year old DH. Jermaine Dye. That and he wants a guaranteed starting spot and last I heard a contract in the $10m range.
  23. Right, I hate the Jews way more than Joyce. What if Joyce is a Jew? I am not saying, just saying....
