  1. Since they've been going through an OF carousel anyway, why couldn't the Cubs try Soriano in RF? He seems to have the arm for it and is athletic enough -- how much more of a stretch would it be for him to learn to play RF? It would certainly clear up LF for both Murton (long-term) and Floyd (short-term platoon). Both haven't looked good at all in right -- I think Soriano has a chance to be the best right fielder on the current roster.... though that may not be saying much.
  2. Vlad signed when Sosa was still great. Alou is the player that kept the Cubs from going after Vlad. They were paying Moises big money and he was coming off a mediocre year which followed a crap year. That's right -- my memory was off... its still annoying that an impact FA like Vlad hit the market and the Cubs seemed completely uninterested. Alou did have a fantastic '04, but thats still not enough to get over missing out on Vlad.
  3. Vlad. Easily one of my favorite baseball players of all time. There are a lot of reasons to hate Jim Hendry. Not pursuing Vlad because Sosa was not yet dumped off on Baltimore is very high on my list.
  4. Wade Miller for closer! heh
  5. Cubs lineup: 2B Theriot CF Pagan LF Soriano 3B Ramirez C Barrett 1B DeRosa RF Murton SS Izturis P Lilly
  6. Zambrano will have his best start of the year and pitch a complete game, allowing only 1 unearned run.... Before you think I'm a crazy optimist, its only because Z wants to impress his future employer. He'll return to crap next start. Oh, and the 1 unearned run is enough for the Cubs to lose 1-0.
  7. Saw this article on yahoo about Mike Marshall's pitching technique -- I realize most people think he's a nut, but its still an interesting read. The article also contains a link to a video of former ML pitcher Jeff Sparks demonstrating the technique. Link Here's a little bit from the beginning that's specific to the Cubs:
  8. Its scored as a sacrifice and FC.
  9. According to ESPN1000, the Cubs have recalled Angel Pagan. They did not indicate who would be sent down, but speculated that it would be Pie. I can't find anything else to confirm this, so take it with a grain of salt until another source makes a similar report.
  10. :D :D :D

  12. I hope this is true -- I'm going to the game today and would love to see Felix's debut. :D
  13. Considering that the only Elmer worth owning is glue, I think the Dodgers are the clear winner here.
  14. As do I. Me 3. :D
  15. Let's go Hoyas! :D Heckuva comeback against Carolina. Both semi-final games sure look like they will be a blast to watch.
  16. Way to go Bruins!
  17. "Chasing October" opens today and will be playing at the Music Box Theatre, AMC South Barrington 30, AMC Cantera 30, and Landmark's Renaissance Place Cinema. Hopefully, some of you in the area will get a chance to check out. We're hoping for a strong showing this first weekend. Thanks.
  18. Yep -- at past screenings of the film, he usually gets a nice chorus of boos when he shows up on screen. :D
  19. another lee elia-like shot here. That's OK -- last year the Cubs weren't working most days (or nights) either.
  20. What a load of B.S. Reggie is just enjoying the opportunity to toy with Illini fans again.
  21. BRUTAL! That is brutal, though my WS buddies did in fact enjoy the ending sad to say. Anyway, I think I'll wait for a rip from Bruce Miles before jumping into the river. Despite how '03 ended, there's still a lot to enjoy from that season IMO... everything up to the last 5 outs or so....
