  1. that's the end of the series. i see you're still a fan. Nah, Im still pisssed. I just need to know who starts for the Giants cause Im starting a game thread. tomorrow is Schmidt vs. Hill. Thanks. Im just stupid. I could of just gone to the Giants website. Just not my day, I guess.
  2. Well, I seriously blew my top today (the 24th) when Dempster allowed the Cards to tie it up after 0-2 on some bum with 2 outs , no one on. Incredible. Also incredible that Neifi freakin Perez came through. Cedeno better find some other things to talk to the bench about. The fact that they won still doesnt change the way I feel about this year's team though... Hopefully, Hill has a great day and shows that he is not only a K machine but an effective MLB pitcher. Its my NSBB game thread debut! Too bad it comes at a time when I am totally bummed out by the team.

  4. Nobody. They have the day off. lol, brainfart, who starts for san fran?
  5. yah, especially when you're up 0-2!!! Who the hell called for a slider on 3-2?!
  6. BYe K.M.A ....er, sorry. Kind of in a bad mood. In all seriousness, I honestly may be done with the Cubs. Really, I just cant stand watching them. I dont like the players on the team, dont like the manager, and dont live in chicago so Im seeing little reason to cheer for them. Being a Cubs fan is like staying with a girl when she keeps cheating on you. Maybe Ill chill out by tommorow like usual. Who knows? Ive never been this angry before. Marlins series, I was sad mixed in with angry. Now, Im just plain angry.
  7. F the Cubs. F'em. Im just sick and tired of this pathetic, good for nothing team. I have never hated the Cubs before this year. I dont like them. Screw my loyality. Ive been loyal my entire life and time and time again they let me down. Im done with it.
  8. Well, one outta two isnt bad. Corey's swing will not changed overnight (couple of weeks). Im not defending him cause I really am sick of his approach, but I think its unrealistic too expect a change so soon. Has his approach to hitting changed at all. Im actually more concerned with that than his swing?
  9. Is anyone else concerned that C-Patt is only averaging .200 since going to Iowa?
  10. I give him one more year and thats it. Too bad we didnt trade him, though, while his value was super-high.
  11. So, who would you rank over Marshall? What is it about Marshall that you are not sold on regarding his prospect status? I know some of my complaints may not be entirely fair, but oh well, Age - already 23 (only just reaching AA) and has a major surgery - probably ends up like every other cubs pitching prospect and blows out his shoulder/arm multiple times. Yah, I guess 23 isnt that old (isnt Hill something like that), but usually our really really good pitching prospects rise quickly through the system. Outpitch and third pitch - Really havent heard that his curveball ius amazing like someone like Hills. I guess its not vitally important to have a completely devastating pitch, but it seems to make a more attractive prospect. Also, doesnt seem to have a nice third option yet. Kinda like Welly in that way. No full year of minior league experience yet - well, 14 starts in the high. Hasnt proved much yet, really at a high level. All in all, I guess hes a pretty good prospect. I probably jumped the gun, but I just really dont see how he seperates himself from the other cubs pitching prospects.
  12. Ponson has been dreadful for them this year. Still...Who are they going to replace him with? They now essentially have another slot in the rotation too add. Well, I guess anyone could be better than Ponson, but Im still sort of puzzeled since Nevin isnt really all that great either.
  13. He's the top pitching prospect in the Cubs' system right now, imo. Agreed. We'll see...
  14. Is Darin Downs ever going to do anything? So much was thought of him when he was drafted, but hes been kinda quiet ever since...
  15. Sean Marshall is way way too high.
  16. Is that supposed to be an insult or complement? I know I didn't want to give any of those pitchers that much money. The fact that they got injured only justifies my belief. And to OHCF, Hendry was looking into acquiring all of them but he felt that they weren't worth the amount they got. There were rumors of us acquiring all of them during the offseason, though. Probably an insult. We did really need a closer but the price tag was too high considering its "only" a closer and we were already over our spending limit. In hindsight, it was definately the right move and 8 mil or whatever it is way too much to pay for a closer anyway.
  17. While that is correct, Hendry still didn't recognize the need of a closer. He still turned a blind eye to that position. He had no idea Percieval and Benetiz would go out injured. Actually, he wasnt concerned about them getting injured. He just didnt want to pay the pricetag.
  18. Wood has been our number 1 starter? HAHAHAHA!! Please tell that to opposing teams. Maybe Kerry's not soft, but he sure leaves a lot of games. He'shurt so often, might as well call him soft...whatever, doesnt change the fact that the "man" cant stay healthy. If he's hurt, he shouldnt be pitching cause he obviously hurts the team when he does. Everyone just assumes hes a warrior because unlike Prior, his delivery is very violent and looks very much like his is trying to throw the ball through a brick wall. Why do you think hes always getting hurt? Magic? Did Harry Potter cast a freakin spell on him? No. He refuses to change the issues in his mechanics that cause his arm ailments and that is stubborn.
  19. Ok, I sense the sarcasm. Just in case, you arent sarcastic. His numbers are not "BAD". Im just frustrated that everyone here seems to be totally in love with him despite the fact that we cannot trust the guy at all to produce for us. Someone said earlier anything Kerry does is a bonus? Thats ridiculous. We just shouldnt give a free pass to Kerry.
  20. Hard choice. I like Murton a lot and I am not one of the many Dunn-lovers here, but its a tough choice. It all depends on the price for Dunn. Right now, though, I am just fine with Murton as, like you said, we dont really need any more power/free-swingers. We have greater concerns than our left-fielder I can tell you that.
  21. Actually, they are facts. Whether his is soft or not, it is clear that the guy cannot stay healthy whatsoever. Yes, Kerry did change his mechanics, the change was not affecting the part which causes him to have arm trouble....Im not going to be nice to him cause "its hard to change"...Boo hoo. Its his job. Bolded one of your key words. Yah, hes been a good pitcher when healthy, not great, not unbelieveable. Solid, but not a number 1 starter who everyone should cringe to have to face. The media just always hyped him and Prior as an unbeatable 1-2 punch just because Kerry has great stuff. Thrower, not a pitcher. Just wait in see come 2007 and tell me if you really want him then after two more inconsistent and unhealthy years.
  22. Honestly besides D-Lee, A-Ram, and T-Walk, I dont think there is a player, manager, or executive who you cant blame. My order of blame: 1) Dusty: Pretty obvious especially after today's game. I wouldnt trust him coaching a little league game much less a team with a 90 million dollar pay roll....Not going to go any further so to prevent a bash-dusty thread. 2) Injuries: Pitching injuries crippled us early on along with the HUGE Nomar injury which could have prevented a lot of our offensive collapses throughout the year. It also has resulted in doubling the number of Baker's different lineups. 3) Jim: Still like him, but we always needed relief help, but for some reason we stood pat and even traded away a quality reliever - The Farns. We look even worse considering our payroll. 4) Specific players: Corey, Kerry, Neifi (excluding hot start), Holla, Dubois (maybe not fair), Wuertz, Bartosh, and Novoa have all been absolutely horrid. I agree with all your points except for Dempster. Dempster is just fine. Getting to Dempster and putting him in situations to succeed is another matter. I also agree that it is time to seriously look at the future of Kerry Wood. I know almost everyone has a man-crush on the guy. But those people need to face the facts: A) He is as soft as the Pacer's Johnathen Bender. B) He is stubborn. Doesnt fix mechanics which lead to injury. C) HE IS NOT THAT GOOD! Wild and inconsistent come to mind even when healthy. People act like hes won the Cy Young award 10 times. He hasnt even won 15 games!!! D) He will eventually be way too expensive. Someone will overpay him when the time comes. Might as well get something for him.
