  1. Its not on TV for me, so could one of you guys fill me in on how Corey's swing/approach looks?
  2. Maddog should have gone crazy like Z did when he struck out Barry. If we are going to miss out the playoffs, make is entertaining.
  3. Imagine if Dusty benched Walker for more than this game. Todd would just explode on him. It would probably be the greatest moment of my life.
  4. He is a quality bench player like it says in my sig.
  5. Ok, lets just say the Cubs win in a blow out (yes, I know that that was a super-jinx). Are you all going to go crazy and become optimistic again?
  6. DJAXX, what are you doing? Is that cheering? I thought that was banned on this board. Yah, we still have a chance at the wildcard!
  7. This is actually the most fun I have had in a game thread in a long time. No pressure. No need to win. A laughable lineup. Its great.
  8. Actually, you made a triple post.
  9. A solitary leaf in the right place is enough to block the signal. It sucks, but it beats the hell out of dealing with the cable bastards. Nah, I love my cable. I cant figure out the bill, but the price is fairly resonable, so Ill take it. Hasnt broken down even once in 3 years.
  10. Lol, I am so beyond angry that I find this whole lineup funny. Its just comical. Whats even funnier is that Jim Hendry, Bruce Levine, and Scoop Jackson probably think that its a great lineup. DARREN BAKER FOR MANAGER!!!!
  11. We have a couple NSBB members going to game so hopefully we will get to see them incite a riot....or at the very least, where a paper bag over their heads.
  12. I would call it a semi-fluke. This is a career year, no doubt, but there are other reasons why is slumping like the fact that he does have an injured shoulder as well as he hasnt had a day off in years. Next year, I expect him to revert to around .285 with 35 homeruns. Still good, still fairly young, so I dont really see any motivation to trade him. We have plenty of dead weight we need to move around first.
  13. Prediction: Cubs win this game and everyone here changes their minds and claim the Cubs will win the wildcard.
  14. Maybe just a slight exaggeration. I really dont think the Hill hating has been that bad. I mean, its not like Hill is just losing. Hes getting bombshelled, obliterated, destroyed, massacred, and what not.
  15. I dunno. Kaufmann stadium is pretty nice and the water falls are relaxing. Also, at least you know you're going to lose and not choke brilliantly.
  16. Cubs rotation = overrated We have 2 major holes that have to be fixed somehow. There arent many FA possibilites, so Jim is going to have to get Creative. Actually make that 3 major holes because: 1) Kerry Wood cannot be counted on to survive a whoole year. 2) Maddux is old and his era keeps going up and up and up...to 5. Hes pretty much an innings eater at this point. 3) Jerome Williams? Rich Hill? Both are not really MLB starters. Marginal #5s at best. Jerome gets the nod over Hill because quite frankly Rich is Over the Hill even at 25...Ok, terrible attempt at a joke, but you get my point. The guy is overrated because hes a midwestern guy who has a really nice curve. The fact is the guy couldnt even dominate the big ten and is having one spectactular minor league year from A to the majors at age 25. He was old at every level this year besides the bigs.
  17. Well, apparently he doesnt have the balls to tell Dusty to his face and TELL him what to do because Dusty hasnt followed Jim's ideas at all this year.
  18. Hes pratically too old to be called a prospect. Hes 25. His fastball aint going to improve much as he gets older.
  19. I would get rid of Maddux, but like someone else said, we still still have to pay his contract if we DFA him. Being classy does NOT win championships. Look at the Red Sox.
  20. Just curious but have the Cubs ever truly rebuilt? I mean even in the 90s, they had a lot of vets on the team. Maybe its time for a twins-like rebuilding process. I mean a total revamp which includes getting rid of players like Maddux, Nomar, Macias, Hollandsworth, Walker, Neifi, Rusch, Williamson, Blanco, Burnitz, and Lawton. Sacrifice 2006 if you have too. It is clear with the current team that they cannot win a world series much less make a serious run at the playoffs. I knows its drastic, but maybe its time to do something. If we have to give up these players for squat, so be it. Its time for a fresh start. I am only being half serious. I do think some sort of rebuilding year is neccessary however.
  21. I have heard worse things said at a baby nursery.
  22. Well, Hendry doesnt agree with you. Hes given Dusty about 1 million votes of confidence.
  23. Like someone else above, i am beyond acceptance, I think the Cubs are so bad that its funny.
