  1. In hate relative to wins, 2004 is the leader. This team is easier to hate because it's so bad.
  2. $206 to $179. A big difference, but not as large as the payroll difference. forbes link
  3. Not only is bunting a piss-poor strategy, the Cubs are really BAD AT IT. Its really incredible how they just keep banging their head against a brick wall, hoping the next time they throw their head forward the wall will turn into Jello. One of these days pierre will master bunting 135 feet in the air and become the master of OBP.
  4. twice That means I'm about a pitch behind on MLB Audio. I was just predicting, not reporting
  5. that would be quite a feat, but not one they accomplished. The only teams as bad as the nats (marlins and pirates) have gotten crushed by the cubs. May 2 vs Pirates, Cubs lose 8-0. Cubs lead series 3-2. The Cubs took 2 of 3 from FLA by a combined score of 14-11. I wouldn't say the Cubs crushed either team. I was speaking in terms of scoring, not run differential. I missed that shutout, though
  6. My only point is that people should stop overreacting after 3 pretty good, though not ace-like and 3 poor, though not Rusch-like starts. It just looks foolish in retrospect. Evidently 8 shut out innings of 2 hit ball doesn't qualify as "Ace-like" Incredible. He was talking about his starts prior to this last two
  7. that would be quite a feat, but not one they accomplished. The only teams as bad as the nats (marlins and pirates) have gotten crushed by the cubs.
  8. You can't do a squeeze with 2 outs, so that can't have been the plan There was only one out. Because marshall got on. what are the odds of that?
  9. You can't do a squeeze with 2 outs, so that can't have been the plan
  10. Len announces that the Cubs have had the most errors against them in the league. Not that unlucky, huh
  11. Did you intentionally leave JP and his sub-.270 OBP out of the list of "killers"? the expectations around him weren't too high, so didn't feel like lumping w/ with the manager, 2 starters and aram. Mindboggling claim, given that Hendry considered leadoff the big problem with the offense. Or was this thread on Jim Hendry's comments not concerned with what Jim Hendry thinks?
  12. guy's an idiot. Maybe he just thinks everyone throws like he does
  13. what's the over/under on double switches Dusty manages in AL parks this year
  14. It is because he's old. Mostly. Maybe the steroids caught up with him, but how many guys his age aren't having significant problems with major league pitching?
  15. Baker's plan for tonight: lots of scotch.
  16. I could see a cubs fan not wanting to see the Cubs play at this point badly enough that they'd rather watch the Sox play. I can't imagine them wanting to watch the Sox play more than they'd want to NOT watch the Sox play.
  17. A player's age=the most games in a month he can handle. Murt has to sit, dude.
  18. Yes, Dusty will be bashed if he makes the wrong move, whether it's pulling a pitcher early or late. Not that I'd suggest doing that in this case, if Maddux wanted out. Still, the fact that Dusty was bad with pulling pitchers late in no way makes him immune to criticism for pulling them early
  19. Pulled him right off the 2002 roster. what a pickup!
  20. I think it's official: everything is going wrong
  21. that was a bizarre sequence last year.
  22. Wow, was not expecting that. Of course, he was out.
  23. hey, he failed to ground into a dp! Brenly praising speed now.
