  1. Just wanted to point out that we will be playing in games with the wind blowing out in the summer heat. That's going to be fun.
  2. I saw 7 Cubs games last year. 3 Arrieta starts. I'm going April 19 and 20 in #StLOL, which looks like Hammel and Hendricks. Would have liked to have seen Arrieta or Lester or even Lackey (since its against the Cardinals), but I will not complain. There are enough position players to keep me happy.
  3. Due to a prior commitment I was not able to start watching until the bottom of the 7th. You're welcome.
  4. I petition we spend the first week (heck, even first two weeks) on west coast road trips to start every season. Of course, I don't think MLB will want to push back our WS ring ceremonies to mid-April.
  5. Going off memory I don't think he's been stranded yet. I think he was erased on one FC and two DP. Doesn't really mean anything but interesting.
  6. Can't win them all, but not scoring more runs for Hammel in this park against that pitcher is frustrating. Also giving up 8th inning leads and then losing sucks too. Oh well. Another game tomorrow.
  7. 741. MLB Extra Innings is free this week. Cubs are not on WGN America, just local WGN, but 741 is local WGN for the game tonight.
  8. Yeah, my 9:30-5:30 work schedule is just fine with these late starts especially since the toddler goes to bed at 8:00.
  9. Yep. He was 2-for-3 as a reliever in 2002. 2-for-14 in his career. http://m.bbref.com/m?p=XXboxesXXMONXXMON200204150.shtml
  10. Do I correctly remember Antonio Alfonseca getting a hit as a reliever in Montreal?
  11. I wish I had a cool connection to a MLB player. I was watching Opening Night with two of my friends. One is Mark Trumbo's cousin. The other trained with Cameron Maybin in college and has Maybin's glove that caught the last out ever in Shea Stadium because Maybin gave it to him.
  12. I feel like I'm watching 15U baseball with good teams that both have ran out of pitching late in the tournament.
  13. One of them 2005? I have always disliked Arizona because growing up, Randy Johnson always kicked our ass. Also, 2007. Are they including 1999 as the last 17 years? If so, we won a series in June 1999 there.
  14. I wonder how long it's going to take for me to start feeling like Heyward and Zobrist are Cubs. I don't know how to put it in words, but it feels like they're just additions to the team - not members of the team. And I've always really liked them even when they weren't Cubs, so it's not like I have to change the way I feel about them.
  15. I just liked that you could get $1 drinks and use the bathroom.
  16. With all of my overreacting that we are the greatest team ever after last night I reserve the right to be really pissed at Lester for giving up runs tonight.
  17. Make is to Jake as America is to Arrieta.

  19. Does anybody else find themselves just shaking your head and smiling - sometimes laughing - tonight?
  20. Heyward hitting in front of "The Rams are Back!" ad was great
  21. My wife and I combined an AFL trip [back when Bryant and Soler were there (plus Russell!)] with Sedona and the Grand Canyon. It was good fun. Chase Field is annoying but these Cubs are well worth it. We went there for the first time last season for the Cubs visit. My wife actually double barrel flicked off annoying Dbag fans in front of us who were talking trash (and then they left meekly when Rizzo crushed them to oblivion). I love how salty home fans get when Cubs fans are overwhelmingly loud. Yes. DBacks fans are awful. My mom, a pretty laid-back woman who took us to countless Cubs games in the bleachers at Old Busch without incident, got really pissed at some guys behind us at Chase Field and ended up going off on them for being obnoxious towards my brother and I (9 and 11 at the time) for wearing Sosa jerseys. If it were isolated she would have brushed it off, but we were at our third consecutive game and she was pretty tired of DBacks fans.
  22. This was the song on the radio while we were doing busy work in my Earth Science class when they cut in to report on 9/11 WTC, Pentagon, PA attacks. However, the first thing we actually heard was a report that the White House had been bombed (which obviously didn't happen). It was not until 2 hours later when I went to my American History class that I knew what had actually happened.
  23. https://www.gofundme.com/pxuvauve The donations are absolutely hilarious. Not me, but I like it. There are better ones.
