  1. I can tell you this. When they make the WS I'm going to a game that is not a possible elimination game and am selling any potential WS clinching games. Those prices are going to be unreal.* *Or, I could sell my pretty good seats and buy less good seats and still be there.
  2. When do we get the All Star lineup back instead of this just pretty decent lineup?
  3. Wait, you're telling me that IF we don't come back against their crappy closer were still 10.5 games up despite our best dongsman being out for the season and two other OF on the DL?
  4. A crooked number would be nice at some point, especially when you get the leadoff runner on in 6 of 7 innings.
  5. So glad I decided to finally watch GoT instead of the end of this game. Still infuriating enough just reading and rewatching. 11.5 up anyway.
  6. If the Cubs go .500 the rest of the season the Cardinals would have to play at a 101-win pace and the Pirates at a 105-win pace for the rest of the season for them to TIE the Cubs.
  7. I think the Fox announcers said something today about the Cubs having outscored the Pirates by 2.5 runs per game this season. That's a cool stat that shows dominance over a pretty small sample size. What I don't think they mentioned is that the Cubs are averaging more than 2.5 runs per game better than their opponents in ALL of their games this season.
  8. Sometimes I just stare at the standings and smile.
  9. I don't think there was a double switch possible for Joe to use if he wanted to. Two catchers in the bench, Coghlan and Almora were already burned and Ross was hitting 2nd in the inning anyway.
  10. This game is infuriating. Not top 5 though...
  11. I feel like we're really close to having a big inning off Strasburg.
  12. Today is going to be one of those special days where the best Cubs team in my lifetime makes me really pissed off for reasons that won't actually matter.
  13. That looked bad, right off his knee it looked like. Assuming he goes to the DL, I don't know if I've ever seen a more impressive starting rotation on the DL for one team..... Maeda/Ryu/McCarthy/Anderson/Wood On the Dodgers broadcast they said it didn't hit his knee but hit his shin.
  14. Maeda took a Goldschmidt line drive off his leg and it doesn't look good.
  15. Please don't be one of those annoying losses we forget about 1.5 weeks from now. Please be a close win we don't remember 1.5 weeks from now.
  16. Really annoying that Espinosa and Lobaton have been the key drivers in each scoring chance for them.
  17. Hopefully, there's another extra inning game in there for him to get that many AB.
  18. Last year we kept updating the "We haven't been this far above .500 since xxx?" That's going to continue to be sometime in September/October 2015 until we reach 32. Then it will be dates in September 2008 from 33-35. September 24, 2008 was the last time the Cubs were 35 above. At 36 games above we will have to go as far back as 1945. On September 30, 1945 the Cubs finished the season at their high point of 42 games over. On September 27, 1935 they were 48 games over before dropping the last two games of the season to end September with a 23-3 record in the month and finish the season 46 games over. They were also 48 games over September 15, 1929. October 15, 1910 they finished the season 54 over. 108-54 would be 54 games over in a 162 games season. October 6, 1909 they finished 55 over and did not go to the World Series (Pittsburgh). October 6, 1907 they were 63 over. October 4, 1906 the were 80 over. To reach 80 over we would have to finish 121-41.
  19. I wonder what date we will be able to say "If the Cubs finish .500 from here on out they will end up with 100 wins." Would have to get to 38 over .500 to say that. We're currently at 24 over. 22-8 between now and the ASG would get us there.
  20. I work in tech support. We have kicked around the idea of adding a Hall of Shame at work to capture a record of the dumbest things customers ask. Our supervisors have made sure we don't actually keep one as they don't want that to get out, but it got me thinking that we should have a Hall of Shame here for really horrible baseball ideas. I'll start it with a recent one. Woman in front of me at the game yesterday was all bent out of shape that Bryant was playing 1B. She wanted Soler to play 1B so Bryant could play LF to "get practice at a position he will actually play in the playoffs."
