  1. I was really hoping that Hoff would be on this team over Ward. I completely disagree with this decision.
  2. It's like in '03 when FOX would have the goat scamper across the screen. Quit trying to sell the same stuff. Aren't people tired of hearing such stupid excuses. How many times have the Cubs had the best team in the league in the last 20 years? Ever? And even if you are the best team in the league, there are eight other teams that are pretty decent themselves. Not to mention it's baseball and anything can happen.
  3. Sadly, this is about what we can expect. This lineup made me roar with laughter.
  4. Even though the Cubs are going to the playoffs and are the NL favorites, I'm a little depressed. Every year on the last regular season Sunday I hate to think that the season is actually over. Of course, on years like this it quickly switches to excitement/nerves before the postseason starts, but at least for the rest of the day I'll be a little sad to see the season go. Anybody else feel this way on years the Cubs make the postseason, or am I the lone ranger on this one?
  5. It's actually a neat scene in Milwaukee right now. I just don't like when the Cubs lose. How did Howry get 7 wins? He must have blown leads before Cubs rallies...
  6. CC is wearing a Wild Card champs hat...
  7. It would be kind of fun to play extras today and watch the Brewers and their fans just absolutely deflate. But then again I hate the Mets probably more than I hate the Brewers... And at this point I'm not too worried with who the Cubs play. They should beat whoever they play. They're the best NL team.
  8. I really wish he wasn't on the Cubs postseason roster. So bad...
  9. Early in September I thought it was possible that the NL Central would have 3 of the 4 best records in baseball (Cubs, Brewers, Cardinals).
  10. When the Cubs switched, it was because the fans just weren't supporting the team in Jackson (I think they were always at or near the bottom of the league in attendance). The Marlins switching from Carolina to Jacksonville was because theywanted the team to be located closer to the parent team (understandable, since callups from AA straight to the majors are fairly common these days). I don't know the reason for the other moves this time, but a lot of times it is because a minor league city opens up closer to the parent team's home. All the games I went to, including playoff games, were very sparsely attended. The ballpark is gorgeous though. http://www.ballparkreviews.com/wtenn/wtenn.htm I strongly disagree with the comments about the stadium on that page. The stadium is right in the middle of a cornfield. It's almost like the Field of Dreams. I don't think the ballpark is to blame for the lack of atmosphere, but the lack of fans is to blame. Fans still don't come out to see the Diamond Jaxx. The cornfield is long gone (if there ever was one) and has been replaced by I-40 to the left and parks to the right. What they need is some development around the park. When I was there the interstate was there, but the cornfield was between the interstate and the stands in left and then continued out beyond center and right. I'm thinking that was around 2003...
  11. Maddux threw only 47 pitches over 6 innings. That's less than 8 per inning.
  12. Nats rallying. 4-3, bases loaded, 1 out. Zimmerman batting.
  13. Please do that more in the playoffs! FU-KU-DO-ME!
  14. Two popups from Fielder that should be outs have lead to them scoring at least two runs so far.
  15. I saw that. I'm glad he averaged 2 days of rest between starts. Maybe that's why he wasn't pitching so well...
  16. Pretty good considering his horrible April. If you take out his April, what's his ERA this year? If you take out his first four starts (the last two in April were pretty good with 6 innings in each and 1 and 2 ER's allowed), his ERA is 3.65. Solid. The main thing is his recent starts and they're awesome.
  17. I like the quotes at the end.
  18. It should be noted that the Mets would have the tiebreaker over the Phillies if the Brewers lose the next two, Phillies lose the next two and the Mets win tomorrow.
  19. It's early, but I'm just wondering this not because I think it will happen, but because I want to know what you all think. If Lilly has a no-hitter after 5 or 6 do you take him out? He won't pitch until next Sunday, so he'll have 7 days of rest...
  20. Why you gotta talk Howry about Lilly? Haha. I was discussing a left-handed power-hitting pitcher hitting in Miller Park. That's all.
  21. Wow! Lilly looks like Brooks Kieschnick (sp?)!
  22. Interesting. I hope his shoulder is ok Lou did this last year with Lilly (started him for 2 innings and then had him pitch on "3 days rest" in Game 2), and Lilly looked awful in the playoffs. I love that Lilly went from our number 2 starter to our number 4 starter. And Rich Hill went from our 3rd starter to the Rookie League... And Wood went from 1st starter to Sham Closer. And Prior went from our 2nd starter to...er...the DL And Maddux went from our 3rd started to the Padres to the Dodgers. Three Finger Brown went from our 1st starter to dead I have to admit that Omar sent the discussion in this direction. Well played on Three Finger Brown.
  23. Well, no, because the only way we face them in the NLDS is if there is a three team tie, they lose to NYM on Monday and then beat Milwaukee on Tuesday. I'd rather face that rotation that just threw their three best pitchers than face them in the NLCS.
  24. As if I didn't need even more reason to like Johnson, he idolizes Ty Cobb as do I (the baseball player, not the man). Edit: I originally typed Cedeno, don't ask me why.
  25. Former Cub Brendan Harris drives in a run for the Twins on a 2B. Interesting thought. I wonder when the Dodgers, assuming it's the Dodgers that we face, will get to Chicago. If it's Monday, the Twins, White Sox, Tigers, Cubs and Dodgers may all be in Chicago on the same day...
