  1. I've found something to the effect of "please speak up, it's hard to hear you down in 4th place" can be pretty effective. Then you get to hear about 2006. Yeah, usually it's something about 1908. We were catching 1908 crap at the Orioles series we went to, in the last game when Baltimore killed Jason Marquis. It was kind of cute in a "we've never been relevant except for that one time our shortstop didn't sit out for 16 years" sort of way. From Orioles fans it's pretty funny....a little ironic maybe. From Cards fans though -- unfortunately they've won a World Series very recently. They can talk crap. Glad I don't have to live down there. Seriously, until 2006 I could just tell my friends, "And how many Cardinals World Series Championships have you seen?" Thanks Mets and Tigers...
  2. It is no fun here. I have a close friend who is a Sox fan and he's been very supportive. Other than that, I've dealt with a ton. Today I was wearing a Cubs shirt and some random guy wearing a Cards WS Champs shirt says, "Enjoy your World Series this year. Wait, nevermind..." I'm used to it though, living my whole life in Missouri.
  3. You have to mail your tix in before they'll send you a refund. They suggest a tracking service to prove they received them. Then I guess they credit you somehow.
  4. I wonder what they're going to do with AC0063100 sign. They'll have to add onto it.
  5. Although it's long, this one made me laugh, which is hard to do at the moment.
  6. This is Bob Costas' plan right? I think it's brilliant for the regular season. However, since the season is SOOO long, only the two best teams should make the playoffs in each league. It would never happen and I don't think it should. Elimating 4 playoff teams elimates another 5-10 teams from playing meaningful games in August and September. You have to provide hope for fans to get excited. Sports produces "flawed" champions all the time. Being the best team doesn't guarantee a title. I would be in favor of adding extra incentives for the higher seeded teams, like a 4-1 home field advantage in round 1, or maybe a 7 game series, but I don't see any reason why the number of playoff teams should be reduced. I know it will never happen and I understand why. I'm just stating what I wish it would be/should be. The season is just too long to let 8/30 (more than 1/4) into the playoffs.
  7. Be patient. I love how Sori's advice to the fans is what the entire fan base would love for him to do, be patient.
  8. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20081006&content_id=3598325&vkey=news_chc&fext=.jsp&c_id=chc Sorry, Sori, I don't want to think about your NLDS 2009 performance just yet. I'll deal with it then.
  9. I won't be so sure that this team will get to the playoffs year in and year out. We still don't know who will own this team and there are so many backloaded contracts into players that are just getting older and older. I don't want to even think about next year right now. The regular season doesn't even seem like fun right now. It's just going to be another 6-month wait for a chance to try to win 3 out of 5.
  10. I honestly hope the Cubs walk in with another 85-win team or something and then have success in the playoffs. We won't have so many bandwagoners for the entire season. I think Cubs fans are tired and ticked right now, but I don't think that the die-hards have been portrayed all that well in the last five days or so. Even though it would almost guarantee I couldn't get playoff tix, I wish they would do it the old way, with a long line wrapping around Wrigley the day after they clinch the division. I think that will curtail a lot of the junk we saw Wednesday night with the dead crowd.
  11. The worst part is that for the first time in my life (20 years), I am not excited about next year. This one's going to take awhile for me. In 2003 I had gotten my first real taste and I was pumped about it coming again next year. I haven't had that taste since. This time was just too much. I'll come back, trust me, but it's the first time ever that I wasn't immediately thinking about next year. How can I hope for another division title right now? I feel like the only thing to hope for (when it comes to baseball, I have a life) is Game 1 of the 2009 NLDS. And that, is sooooo far away.
  12. This is Bob Costas' plan right? I think it's brilliant for the regular season. However, since the season is SOOO long, only the two best teams should make the playoffs in each league.
  13. I honestly think the best way to go about it would be to take the two best records in each league. Have a best-of-nine LCS and WS with only 1 travel day during each series so if one pitcher pitches more than twice it's on short rest at least once. 162 games is such a long season to throw two teams into a 5-game series and try to eliminate one of them.
  14. I can't go to any of the games so I plan on selling tix for Game 2. That's the one I'm going for.
  15. That was the worst defensive inning that I can remember this year. Funny that Dempster had the worst outing of the year yesterday....
  16. Z is keeping it together and pitching great. Sure hope this team doesn't screw it up.
  17. I have been SO busy today getting things done before tonights game. I check my email and CONGRATULATIONS!! Yes, I'm going for Game 6. Please, Cubbies, win tonight.
  18. RE START HEART !!! This is going to be a long month. I hope...
