  1. is there an idea you like, besides salary cap (which isn't happening) or status quo? I don't think it's a horrible idea and I don't think I'd even be angry if it happened. After all, I did point out the pros to that system and I find that system interesting to think about. However, I wanted to make the claim that it's not my favorite system. I like having 8 total playoff teams (4 in each league). That doesn't make me right or wrong, just what I like.
  2. Although I don't really like this idea, I don't think the purists would have much of an argument against it on grounds of it destroying late-season races. If you seed the teams 1-3 with division winners (so no wild card teams get a bye) and then 4-6 with wild card winners it could still make the divisional races very important. It may even create a race between the second best and third best divisional winners to get that bye. It also creates a race between the first and second wild card based to see who gets home-field in the first round. Obviously there will most likely be a race between the last wild card and the 7th team which is out of the playoffs. The only divisional race that would be diminished is if the worst divisional winner and the best wild card team were from the same division and they had no chance of catching seed 2 or dropping to seed 5. This is highly unlikely.
  3. Is that supposed to be a caption for your picture of Ronnie? Haha. No.
  4. If anything, I would think this would force MLB to go with a DH for every game. I know. That's a reason for me not to like the proposal. Oops. I misread your post. I thought you were saying this could force the elimination of the DH. My bad. No problem. I just would hate to see the DH become a mainstay in both leagues (or the only league).
  5. What happens when a division is horrible and in one offseason 5 teams petition to join that division because they can't win in their division but they can win in the crappy division? Also, it seems to me that it will become only easier for the Yankees and Red Sox to get to the postseason. It seems the third-best AL East team would always switch with a non-contending AL Central team. To prove the point, if the Rays were in the Central in 2008 then the Yankees would have made the playoffs as the wild card. It seems to me that MLB politics would be a large deciding factor in what teams move to which divisions. Also, it makes the wild card a joke if you have admittedly good and bad divisions. The wild card could easily come from an inferior team just because they get to play three crappy teams for 54 games or so (1/3 of the season).
  6. If anything, I would think this would force MLB to go with a DH for every game. And if a team can opt out of their division, will the AL East be made up entirely of the Red Sox & Yankees? Can Baltimore say they want to move the NL Central? Would an NL Central team then have to move somewhere else? This proposal brings up so many questions. It sounds ridiculous at the moment. I want to hear more. I know. That's a reason for me not to like the proposal.
  7. The slave comparison completely threw me. You are being paid millions of dollars. Your job is to listen to the manager and other coaches on when to run, jump, swing, throw, etc. If everybody just decided when they did and didn't want to do things the team would never win in any sport.
  8. Anything that could possibly make the DH a universal rule is something I would be opposed to.
  9. Because every time we brought it to the paint we were hacked and no foul was called and Aldrich doesn't play by the same rules as the rest of the league. You better be glad the 3 wasn't falling because we were wide open. Offense played well outside of missing the 3. Have you seen the margin of loss for Mizzou this year? The only two games that Mizzou was blown out were against kU. Mizzou is a lot better school than their record shows and kU would have had a lot more trouble on the road this year against the Big XII if they had to deal with the same homer treatment that everybody else does in the league. Big XII refs are some of the worst homer refs, but not against kU. In lieu of rebutting your homerific whining, I present you a pic of Cole Aldrich's nuts on some 4 foot 3, DIII post player's head. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/ku_bkc_mu_11_t640.jpg Oh, this was the play where he hung on the rim and should have gotten a technical, but guess what, wasn't called.

  11. I haven't heard anything suggesting Mitchell won't qualify. I've heard Anderson is still recruiting another big, but I think Stone or Underwood transferring or Green going to prep school(he shredded his knee a month or two ago) is a more likely reason. Mizzou needs to shoot better than 10% from 3 if they're going to beat Kansas. That's all there is to it. On a more bitter note, Kansas remains the only team in the Big 12 to out-FT their opponents on the road. Other teams lose about 10 net free throws going from road to home, Kansas gains a couple. Considering our offense consists of throw it down to our bigs, who are usually bigger and stronger than everybody else's, is it surprising we shoot more free throws? Hey, why was there a fan dressed in a black KKK outfit in your student section? The cotton ball incident wasn't racist enough? Kansas is 5th in the conference in FTA/FGA. There's a difference between shooting more free throws, and being the only team in the conference to shoot more than their opponents on the road. K-State shoots more FTs than anyone in the country and they still get outshot on the road. /bitterness That guy was a pterodactyl, he actually wore that to last year's Kansas game too. You're right. The fix is probably in. We're really the 4th best team in the conference. And I don't care if it was a pterodactly, you probably don't want to have a costume that resembles a black KKK suit. Seriously? I'm so sick and tired of people trying to make a racism story where there isn't one. Knee-jerk overreactions like the university considering a required diversity course just because two people did something stupid (and physically harmless) and somebody not being able to wear a pterodactyl suit because people may think it resembles a black KKK suit are ridiculous. Oh, and if Aldrich had to play by the same set of rules as everybody else he wouldn't be near as dominating. 6 total team fouls in the second half? Come on. There was so much hacking going on in the first half during the big kU run and no fouls were called on Kansas. The reason they got that run is because Mizzou abandoned the 3 because they were missing and they started driving. However, nearly every possession the shooter was fouled and no fouls were called. At the same time Aldrich was allowed to go over the back and walk at the other end.
  12. Oh, sorry about that. I looked around but didn't think of checking that thread. Stupid me.

  14. What? Sam Fuld didn't take flight and rob him?
  15. Haha. Zito hit Fielder with the first pitch today. Probably stemming from the walk-off HR celebration in Milwaukee last year, per Baseball Tonight.
  16. Ryan Miller gets a louder ovation in Pittsburgh than Sidney Crosby tonight. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4960646
  17. Zaire Taylor again finds a way to play bad and be the big hero. OK, by me. Tigers escape.
  18. My neighbors have to hate me right now!

  20. This is like the Baylor game. Mizzou can't finish out the half and it probably will cost them this game as well.
  21. It's better than a Mizzou win to most MU fans. The best part is, MU could have had Self. They chose Quin instead. Since most MU fans are also Cardinals fans that's probably true. However, it's not for me. I'd trade a win verse K-State tonight for that kU loss with no thought. The Self comment was because he pretty much gave OSUs coach the cold shoulder.
