  1. I think I like Owens more than anything the dodgers are going to offer. A lefty with a crazy K rate makes me irrationally happy.
  2. I'd love to land Owens or Lavarnway. I can't imagine that Bogaerts/Barnes/JBJ are on the table.
  3. Unless it's Smyly, Gould and Withrow seems to be the best rumored so far. I'd be pretty happy with that.
  4. You have the Cubs giving up and taking a similar prospect which basically means they're getting Chase Headley for a couple months of Dempster and Russell. Then the Padres are giving away their best two trade chips a reliever and a good, but not great, prospect. I'd say the Padres are getting screwed pretty hard. They'd want more than that just from Headley alone.
  5. Am I wrong, or is 4 pitchers not seeing the fielder considerably more than usual? Isn't it usually like 1, maybe 2?
  6. Darvish almost has to pitch; I would think there would be a pretty big uproar if he didn't.
  7. and still no Castro, go [expletive] yourself TLR.
  8. Proving how oblivious I was to allstar voting this year, I just noticed Uggla made the team...how the hell did Uggla make it over Aaron Hill?
  9. Twangy voice, sounds like she has chew in her cheek at times.
  10. TLR is a dick, always has been and always will be.
  11. So everyone in the division but the Cubs gets additional picks. Completely fair, well thought out Selig.
  12. Somewhat unrelated, but the more I think about Dempster being excluded from the ASG the more I'm baffled. He leads the NL in ERA and he's second to only Jered Weaver in baseball. Another case of people thinking W's actually mean something?
  13. I just can't fathom Gausman being one of the top 2 picks next year. Is that extra year of risk really work one, maybe two slots?
  14. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/07/gausman-unlikely-to-sign-with-orioles.html?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=facebook Likely a negotiating ploy, but I can't fathom him going before 3 or 4 in the next draft. I can't imagine the risk of playing another year is worth that.
  15. Pretty bummed out by Almora taking up just about every last cent. I was really hopeful they would land at least one more difficult sign.
  16. Happy that he signed, but not exactly thrilled that he took up the entirety of the remaining money.
  17. The Mets playing the role of the Cubs.
  18. The good news is that we may get to see Rizzo bat again.
  19. yup, any kind of momentum Marmol has built up lately is completely gone. How a professional pitcher can't throw a ball straight is completely beyond me.
  20. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1244062-5-bold-predictions-for-yasel-puigs-los-angeles-dodgers-career Holy crap, this is one of the biggest fluff piece articles I've ever read with zero basis for any of it. Puig has ROY locked up in 2013, is a perennial 30/30 guy and in 2014 is just about on par with Kemp. Good god, even for BR this is awful.
  21. Vitters is now coming off a May and June where he has OPSed .884 and .970 respectively. That's a combined .927OPS over the last two months.
  22. I'd prefer keep him as well, but I can't see paying him the 18M or more he'd be seeking on an annual basis. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable going anymore than 15M annually.
  23. This would be big; probably the biggest ceiling of any of the guys outside of Almora.
  24. Agreed on Matusz, the velocity has been inconsistent and for the second year in a row he's getting absolutely teed off on. I'm not even sure I'd want him to headline a Dempster deal let alone a Garza deal.
  25. I agree with the disdain on pretty much any O's package outside of the very unrealistic ones involving one of Bundy/Machado. Taking formerly high ranked prospects who failed is a strategy you use for someone of Dempster's value, not Garza's. With that said, if they offered up Britton and one of Arrieta/Matusz with a couple other specs then I'd be at least somewhat intrigued.
