  1. So Kellen fumbles, drops a pass, gets knocked off his route which leads to an int and yet I bet he still sees the field in the second half. The Bears collection of TEs may be the worst in the NFL. Bring in Jared Cook please.
  2. My favorite part is people saying he isn't a "Theo type player." Good players are Theo type players. Not everyone in Boston was a count working walk wizard. Not even to mention the fact that Castro still has a lot of developing to do and just so happens to be doing it at the big league level. And the fact that the two things this front office likely wanted him to focus on improving (patience and defense) are also the things he improved the most this season. BB% by year: 2010: 5.7% 2011: 4.9% 2012: 5.2% I get it that his second half was much more patient than his first half. That doesn't change the fact that 2012 didn't really represent an increase in patience from Starlin. It's certainly not an area where you can say he "improved the most this season". Based on the entire year you could probably say the improvement was minimal, but I'm sure you saw just as I did how drastically different Starlin's approach was in the second half. It's clear he was intentionally working on this.
  3. That still doesn't address bearjuice's point as to wanting to be entertained. The second half of 2012 was unbearable to watch. The second half was unbearable to watch when the prospects actually got to play? I would think you'd hate the 1st half a lot more. I rather enjoyed getting to watch Rizzo, BJax, Castillo etc etc get some game time.
  4. Rhee....what a disappointing year.
  5. While payroll may be down, I suspect overall baseball expenses aren't down all that much. They spent around 30M between the new Dominican baseball academy and the McDonalds across the street. On top of that, they've added a rather large number of scouts and front office people. They also made all those improvements to right field. So even if it's not showing up in the payroll, they are still spending a considerable amount of money.
  6. If we were able to add Delgado and Olt this year ontop of whatever FAs we sign, I'd consider that a very successful offseason.
  7. What? No. I'm intrigued, what exactly would you expect? You can't seriously think it would be something like Upton+Bauer+ one of Skaggs/Bradley.
  8. I go out of my way to avoid Phil Rodgers because quite simply he's stupid on a Joe Morgan level. With that said, it all depends on what's offered. If the Dbacks were willing to part with Upton/Bauer/Wheeler for Castro/BJax then I'm game, but that's not going to happen.
  9. You are aware that there are 29 other teams right? Landing 1/3 of the targets when you're one of thirty teams is hardly something to be upset over. If Puig doesn't take less money to go to the Dodgers that's half of the targets which is pretty ridiculous.
  10. Rather than worry about efficiency and fiscal responsibility, the Dodgers have decided to just sign every player leaving every other organization unable to field a full team.
  11. You're right, lets give Sanchez 7/100. That'll work out just swell I'm sure! As bad as this is, I think I almost prefer it to the 6/150 Greinke wants. Not that I'd be even remotely interested in either.
  12. I don't know that it's bad, but it's probably the worst of the available options.
  13. I'm not particularly excited about Liriano. I just can't envision any team willing to give up much at the deadline for him. Only once since 2008 has he posted a WAR above 1.8. He's about last on my list of choices.
  14. That would be a really nice start to the offseason. Based on how aggressive Theo was with Soler/Puig I'm pretty optimistic about this.
  15. God, a foundation of Castro/Rizzo/Upton/Bauer/Shark sounds really nice. That's 2 or 3 players from feeling like the Cubs are a legitimately good team.
  16. Swoon. Derek Johnson seems like the perfect hire for a guy like Bauer who loves the long toss. I just wonder if Baez alone would get it done. He wasn't ever realistically going to push Starlin off SS and we have other nice 3B options even if they aren't as good.
  17. For a team devoid of 1B talent like the Rays, I would think the value would be substantial.
  18. From Heyman: I would love to have Hellickson, but that not having enough chips is just a stupid comment.
  19. That's an awful lot of money to make a guy go away, especially from a team without a ton of talent. Where the [expletive] did Heyman get $189 million from? He's owed $21 million, and his contract was only $66 million. WTF? 189 isn't even possible to typo with any of the numbers left from Bay's contract. EDIT: Weird mistake I guess... He meant 18.9M. If you total his 16M in '13 and 3M in '14 that makes sense.
  20. Masterson anyone? Rather have Choo.
  21. Ryu-Hyun and Melky are the two FA signings I absolutely want above any others. They both have the potential to become part of the foundation with Rizzo/Castro and it can be accomplished relatively cheaply.
  22. I don't ask for much, but if it's any of Pleasac,Kaplan,Hollandsworth or Stone, I'm going to have a real hard time watching games this year.
  23. The problem with Crisp is that he's not a long term piece and he's not a piece that's likely to bring back any kind of real return if he plays well. In that way, he's not really any different than Dejesus, just a placeholder with no real purpose.
  24. What lack of professionalism are you talking about? We still don't even know what happened.
  25. One thing has to happen for sure after today. Theo needs to gather every single person in the organization and tell them all to stfu until he gives them the OK to talk about any possible trades.
