  1. Going to be very displeased if any of Underwood/Tseng/Mejia are involved.
  2. He's better than Castillo. Not according to fWAR or rWAR and I simply don't believe the new metrics that claim that framing is good for 20 or 30 runs a year.
  3. Put another way, compared to signing Martin we get better performance, lower cost, younger age, lower risk, comparable or possibly lower player cost(2nd rounder v. Montero prospects), and all without having to make a 5 year commitment. Or you could just leave Castillo to catch full time and throw that 40M at someone like Headley who would make a much larger impression on the team.
  4. Hey awesome we're going to pick up 40M in contract to get a catcher who isn't as good as Castillo but hits righties slightly better. Hell of a way to use 40M. No reason to make this trade unless they're taking Edwin back.
  5. I'd rather have had Liriano even with the loss of a draft pick, but Hammel isn't so bad. Let's hope Theo pulled a miracle and got him for a 2 year deal.
  6. Pitching prospects are just way too scary.
  7. No idea. I thought Yoan Moncada and his agent were there, maybe I'm wrong.
  8. It would essentially destroy Baltimore's off season. At the same time, how can Baltimore's owner refuse to let him interview? You've then got a pissed off GM, who feels like he is being screwed over, making team decisions for the next 4 years.
  9. So we're back to the Jason Hammel, Justin Masterson and Aoki offseason eh?
  10. Andrew Miller@ 4/36 plus draft or David Robertson at 4/50+. I think the Yankees made the right choice. I've seen reports they are still likely to go re-sign Robertson as well Seems like a completely needless waste of money, but then again a bullpen consisting of Betances,Miller and Robertson for the final 3 innings is just ridiculous.

  12. I don't get it. Even if there was a trade happening it still wouldn't make sense. The trade would have to be massive enough to lose 2 of Bryant/Russell/Castro/Baez for Headley to make any sense.
  13. Damn, decent pay day for the old man. I wouldn't have minded him in LF, for 6,7 or 8M but 10.5 is more than I thought it would take.
  14. damn, Greinke's due 4/102 right now and he's just a few months older than Lester would definitely have preferred that Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Greinke have an opt out contract following 2015? He's a great option for 2016.
  15. Adam Eaton, Jose Quintana, Carlos Rodon Rodon cannot be traded and Quintana is better than Samardzija and under control for longer. I think Beane is trying to re-stock his farm system. Maybe Tim Anderson and some other pieces? I'd have to get at least 2 of Anderson/Montas/Danish and another intriguing young wild card like Hawkins.
  16. How in the hell do you not get any of Stroman,Sanchez,Pompey or Norris back in that deal?
  17. So Rose refutes that he had issues with his hamstring, instead he says he was fatigued. He played 10 minutes of basketball and he was fatigued.
  18. Bulls were focusing on Carmelo and didn't have the cap to sign Afflalo and still make Carmelo a real offer. It was unfortunate Afflalo signed pretty quickly in FA. He was traded Yeah my mistake. I had completely forgotten how underwhelming the package Orlando got for him was. He was had for the equivalent of Tony Snell and Cameron Bairstow.
  19. That's the kind of logic that led to letting go of Ramirez because adding 4 guys' WAR together could replace him. But with a five-man rotation, I think I'd rather have Arrieta, Liriano, McCarthy, Hendricks and No. 5 spot then Lester, Arrieta, Hendricks, Turner and Straily or other No. 5 spot. (Yes, I realize we should be able to get Lester AND one of them, but still). That, and I'm just not interested in giving a non-Clayton Kershaw $25 million per for that many years. If there is a great offensive option at that price, sure, but I'd rather have two quality pitchers than one really good one for that cost and the years. So you're not interested in ever signing a TOR pitcher. Fair enough I guess. Even Samardzija types are going to be getting that kind of money.

  21. And he's done for the night because his thigh got tight. I don't even want him on the court anymore, he's nothing but a distraction.
  22. Is there any team in the league who would even touch Rose's contract? Just give him away for expiring contracts.
  23. I just wonder if it could get done straight up. If so, then I prefer Grandal to Susac. Wouldn't you rather have the years of control on Susac? I feel like Grandal has quite a bit more offensive upside, but then again his spike in K rate and decline in his defense is cause for worry.
