  1. Damn Cubs execs just don't learn, do they? [expletive] scoundrels Bad word choice, switch to with about.
  2. I really don't think them talking to Drew has anything more to do with Starlin then when they talked to Zobrist. Javy is the one who needs to be real concerned at this point.
  3. Soriano was on the Cubs when the rape thing happened. Yeah you're right, I thought Sori got moved half way through 2012 not 2013.
  4. As soon as Soriano leaves, Castro starts being involved in all this stupid [expletive]. Can we pay Sori to just hang around with the club?
  5. It really is bad. I still can't get over that only 36 players with enough ABs to qualify had an OPS >.800, only 8>.900 and 0>1.000. Starlin Castro had the 48th best OPS in baseball(.777). Just 5 years ago in 2010 there were 56 players with an OPS >.800, 14>.900, 4>1.000. Castro's .777 OPS from 2014 would have been 70th.
  6. Wouldn't Myers coming to us make sense? Maddon and Hoyer have connections with the principals and if Myers wrist is satisfactory, isn't he the kind of guy the Cubs are eagerly collecting? In a three-way deal, Alcantara, Castillo, Wood and Castro for Myers and Hamels? Myers can't play CF and barely average corner OF. The Phils have no OF prospects and want to get younger. Would Castro and Almora be enough for Hamels? We should probably throw in Baez and Valbuena too.
  7. Vereen is apparently not capable of tackling.
  8. Bears win the TO battle 3 to 0, really it's more like 4-0 because that roughing the kicker was essentially a turnover, and yet they're still going to lose. The worst part is I'm going to have to hear how great Clausen was.
  9. So that 1.365OPS is pretty meaningless when it's accompanied by a 40% K rate. Granted it's only been 20PAs, but let's hope that K rate ends up somewhere in the 20s.
  10. and It only tooks us $50M to get that very slight improvement.
  11. The return on Castillo had better be overwhelming.
  12. I just dont' believe whatever Castillo possibly nets the Cubs makes up for the downgrade the Catching duo takes going from Montero/Castillo to Montero/Ross. I'm hoping Theo is smart enough not to downgrade the team for no real reason.
  13. Absolutely love that deal for KC and wish he was a Cub on the same deal.
  14. I'd take the gamble. In 2011 to 2013 he put up wOBAs of .395,.374 and .363 respectively only to bottom out at .269 last year. It seems weird that in his prime he'd just plummet off a cliff like that.
  15. I would be absolutely livid if we gave up Castro for one year of Greinke, who can opt out after this year.
  16. I don't know that he sucks persay, but it's just that he has no ceiling beyond what he is already. You can't realistically expect for more than a 2.0fWAR from the guy. He'd be a nice 4th Ofer and pinch runner, but he's not a guy I want to see getting 600PAs a year.
  17. I think I'm the only one who doesn't mind Rios on a 1/11 deal. He's only a year off a 3.1fWAR season and 2 years of a 4.2fWAR season. It's no worse than throwing 9M at Masterson/Anderson.
  18. Looks to me like the Nationals are the biggest winner in that trade. The padres get the best piece, but they sure are giving up a lot. TB gets couple solid prospects but it's a pretty marginal return with no marquee prospect.
  19. Couldn't 4.5M get us a noninjured very good set up righty? I mean this is almost taking on risk just to take on risk.
  20. So the Dodgers will have a rotation of Kershaw FIP:1.81 xFIP:2.08 Greinke FIP:2.97 xFIP:2.72 Ryu FIP:2.62 xFIP:3.03 McCarthy FIP:3.55 xFIP:2.87 Anderson FIP:2.99 xFIP:3.55 If by some miracle they all stay healthy, that's an absolutely ridiculous rotation.
  21. I'd rather just wait until 2016 and get David Price without giving up any prospects or taking any bad contracts/
  22. He really should be playing 1B for the Padres. Letting him roam the outfield at Petco might lead to the first -fWAR player with an 850+OPS.
  23. We already have Chris Coghlan and hopefully we're looking to get rid of him. he hits the ball very far and lots He had a -40.3UZR/150 in LF last year. That's worse than Any year in Adam Dunn's LF career.
