  1. I wouldn't think the prospects from that deal would be all that significant. Boston didn't do something dumb like give up Devers or Margot just because they're a long way from the majors right?
  2. If Latos can be had for guys outside of the top 15 in our farm then Theo needs to make that deal.
  3. Apparently Detroit is about to trade prospects for a Reds' pitcher. How is that even possible? At this point Detroit's #1 prospect might not even be in the top 15 in our farm.
  4. And yet the Dodger fans are all kinds of pissed off right now. Watch them add Cole Hamels to that rotation. Kershaw/Hamels/Greinke/Ryu/McCarthy. Ridiculous.
  5. I wanted McCarthy pretty bad, but that he got four years surprises me. Never even really considered McCarthy getting a 4th year to be honest. So far the only deal I'm even a little jealous of is the Liriano 3/39 and even that isn't worth getting worked up over.
  6. The Padres make no sense to me. LAD fans are going to be crushed. For whatever reason they still believe Kemp is an MVP player who is worth multiple top prospects. Last I saw they were nearly unanimous in saying they wouldn't give him up for Lindor or Russell.
  7. I'd be willing to bet that Lester ages a lot better than Scherzer. Scherzer's repertoire strikes me as a guy who requires huge K rates and high velocity.
  8. While Maikel Franco is a really nice bat, I haven't the faintest idea where he would play. He's barely passable at 3B and I feel like we've got this 1B thing covered. I also have about zero interest in Ben Revere. The only way I'm interested in moving them to Philly is in a Hamels package.
  9. Being bad at offense in LF is something the Cubs have plenty of in-house options for already. He's a year off of a .779OPS,21SB,3.9fWAR season with tolerable defense in CF. Even a line like his 2012 season would be great.
  10. So, what does it take to acquire Coco Crisp? He was pretty bad in 2014, but given hsi contract he wouldn't cost much and he fills pretty much all needs.
  11. Hub said he sounded a little jealous of the attention they showed Lester. If he sees them throwing gobs of money at Lester, where they wouldn't extend him at what he deemed a fair price, then of course he's going to be bitter. At the time wasnt the rumored extension 5/75? For what he had done up to that point seemed petty fair. I thought they had offered all the way up to 5/95, but Shark wanted an extension that exceeded Homer Bailey's.
  12. Yeah he was a borderline top 15 guy for me. Only pitchers I had ahead of him were Edwards,Pierce,Tseng and Underwood. Sands was pretty close too.
  13. Please be true. I would feel infinitely better about the trade if true.
  14. I just can't let myself get excited, it would crush me far too much if it ends up being wrong.
  15. No more dumb than people who believe there is a nearly 50 run difference between catchers in pitch framing.
  16. Considering Montero is projected to outperform Castillo next year without taking pitch framing into account, then...yes. Who cares about projections? The last two years of actual performance say you're wrong.
  17. So we're hoping that somehow pitch framing is going to make up for the 5.5fwar to 1.9fwar advantage Castillo has over the last two years,40M contract and prospects. Sorry but that's [expletive] dumb.
  18. It really is unfortunate he's terrible at baseball.
  19. Where does he play? Valbuena is already doing the utility infielder thing and as long as Baez is on the team he's going to be starting.
  20. Apparently Jocketty said they'd have to be "blown away" to deal Bruce. This is clearly executive speak, but I don't think they're of a mind to sell low on him. I wonder if Alcantara,Edwards,McKinney would be too much. Alcantara takes over for the ghost of Brandon Phillips, Edwards fills the many holes that Leake/Cueto/Latos will leave in the 2016 rotation and McKinney could be the RFer of the future.
  21. Names that have been mentioned as available. Carlos Gonzales, Jay Bruce,Cespedes,Beltran etc.
  22. Jay Bruce sounds pretty good. He'd still probably require a bit of a haul, but the price should be way down after his horrible 2014.
  23. It's kind of amazing that Beane is going to have traded Samardzija,Moss and Donaldson and received only a single top 100 prospect, one well outside the top 50.
  24. I believe there is a middle ground. There is just no way in hell there is a nearly 50 run difference between them based solely on pitch framing. That is ridiculous.
