  1. There's going to be way too many people who take that seriously and start trashing him.
  2. Was bored and the boss isn't in the office yet so, I looked at production from positions C= 3.1 fWAR (7th) 1B= -.3 fWAR (27th) 2B= .2 fWAR (24th) SS= 2.4 fWAR (10th) 3B= .4 fWAR (25th) LF= 2.7 fWAR (6th) CF= 1.5 fWAR (15th) RF= .8 fWAR (18th) DH= 2.1 fWAR (8th) SP= 4.0 fWAR (26th) RP= 2.1 fWAR (14th) Long story short, please let Matt Mervis be a thing, get Rodon to lead the staff and any of Trea/Correa/Bogaerts to sure up the IF.
  3. They clearly thing they have the team in place to win. They might if deGrom can stay healthy. From the catcher position this year they have .2 fWAR with a 53 wRC+. Even if it wasn't Contreras, they needed to do something.
  4. I do believe, at least from the Mets, that they weren't offered anything worth taking. We had already heard Alvarez, Baty, Ramirez, Mauricio and Vientos weren't on the table, but that group also included supposedly included Ziegler, Allan and Hamel. So basically the Mets were making no one worth having available, which is why they got almost nothing done at the deadline.
  5. Brandon Drury to the Padres. Everyone to the Padres.
  6. Man are Met fans pissed off at the Cubs right now and I'm kind of enjoying it all. They were so sure they were going to get Contreras+Robertson for Mauricio/Vientos/Allen + Dominic Smith.
  7. Just like the Yankees trade, it isn't the guy I would have targeted, but I quite like the return. They're clearly targeting pop up guys.
  8. Supposedly touching 95-98 after TJS and has a plus change.
  9. Really strong numbers, but I know basically nothing about him Here
  10. Ben Brown is the return Here Really good numbers
  11. Brandon Marsh to Philly For O'hoppe( who I really liked) is apparently happening.
  12. There's no such thing as "irrational" pessimism when it comes to the Cubs. Really don't trust Jed and the GM to get the best possible value. Hoyer honestly did a really good job at the trade deadline last year, but it just really feels like they've backed themselves into a corner here with the number of reported suitors dwindling.
  13. Irrational pessimism is starting to creep in the closer we get to the deadline
  14. Anthony Bass too
  15. The Mets can be as interested as they want, but it doesn't matter if they're prospect hugging.
  16. Bob Nightengale @BNightengale · Follow The Juan Soto deal is done with the #Padres, and does NOT include Eric Hosmer. 11:49 AM · Aug 2, 2022
  17. Love Staumont and would happily pick him up.
  18. Would Bell’s inclusion in some of these rumors indicate that Hosmer is on the move? They aren't going to have anyone left to attach to Hosmer to make it worthwhile.
  19. God I'd be pissed off if I was a cardinal fan.
  20. I really can't see a scenario, not involving Ramirez that would make me happy for Contreras/Robertson to NYM. I guess maybe Vientos+Allan is pretty good, but it seems scary to dangle this trade deadline on a guy with huge swing and miss issues and another guy who has basically thrown about 10 innings in 3 years. With SD to Soto nearly finished, I'm really hoping TB or CLE step it up.
  21. I'm honestly super hyped about Amaya right now. I love the swing changes they made.
  22. Yeah, I'm not super up to date on what those guys have done so far this year, but if we're basing it on the preseason reports then, ouch.
  23. Jorge Lopez going to the Twins. That should be a good haul for Baltimore.
  24. I would be very unhappy Here
  25. At this point, I have my money on a the trio of Contreras, Robertson and Happ going to SD after they miss out on Soto. No way on Robertson after the Hader deal and I doubt they have enough luxury tax room to add much else anyway. Why not Robertson? They were in on him before the Hader deal and they traded a closer to get a closer. Luxury tax would basically require the Cubs to take back like Snell, since Hosmer is reportedly not going anywhere.
