    Yeah, it really must be nice to have ownership who gives even the slightest of fucks about winning. Ricketts liked his new toy for a few years, but now it's just a means to keep lining those pockets.

    I'll believe when I see it, but I sure am seeing a lot of speculation that Eberflus is out after the Detroit game, albeit not from big industry names.

    With Jed you have to set your expectations like this. There's the tier he should shop in which is the Soto/Burnes tier. Then there's the tier we expect him to shop in, like Alonso/Flaherty/Kikuchi/etc. Wherever we expect him to shop, drop it one more tier and that's where Jed is going to be. They'll once again be projected for somewhere between 80-84 wins and some here will desperately cling to theory about some bigger picture. When reality is more mediocre baseball and hoping to stumble into a wild card spot.

    I have no issue with depth, I have an issue with dropping 1/3 of the offseason money on depth

    But those guys are all so much better than Alonso.

    I would be shocked if he got 6/180. Freddie Freeman got 6/162 and he's a way better player than Alonso.

    Yeah he's not a 2.70 era guy, but his peripherals suggest his a 3.2-3.5 guy.

    I don't think going after Crochet is at all mediocre, but seeing that they've been almost entirely unlinked to him and Jed being afraid of big moves, I think it's incredibly unlikely.

    Why would he get more? He's coming off two years with a 122 and 121 wRC+, that's Ian Happ and Ian at least gives you defense and a few SB. Not to mention Alonso had a body type and skill set that falls off fast.

    Williams will put up 30 in a loss and still get hated on because it wasn't a win.

    It's the upside that I think is a tier or two above the others and upside it what the rotation needs.

    Which comes back to my original point that missing on Kikuchi sucks, especially if they intend to add 2 SP. edit: We more or less know they aren't in on Burnes/Fried/Snell. I'd be highly surprised if they were in on Flaherty. That meansif they're shopping in FA for a pitcher, they're shopping for a guy in the back half of the rotation unless a miracle of all miracles happens and Sasaki picks the Cubs.
