  1. It hurts a little, but Morgan is a solid middle inning guy under control for a while so it should. CLE got some significant offensive upside if Rosario can limit the Ks. Edit: I was a bit concerned it was going to end up being Wiggins or Hernandez.
  2. He also represents a guy who, in the past has gotten more swing and miss on this fast ball, so there's upside there. He's also a guy who will throw strikes in a bullpen filled with guys who have BB issues.
  3. This is actually a defense that Caleb should do very well against. They blitz almost constantly and Caleb has been solid against the blitz.
  4. At this point I have Kikuchi as the odds on favorite to be the FA signing.
  5. I'm seeing very little in the way of the Cubs being linked to Crochet which fits with Jed's MO of being afraid of his shadow. A lot of mentions of the Red Sox and Phillies, some with Baltimore but no one expects Baltimore to stop prospect hugging enough to get a deal done.
  6. We're in that part of the season where it's all about Caleb and I don't particularly care about winning or not.
  7. I mentioned that in the game thread. It was at least holding if not PI.
  8. Seeing as how I'm not going to spend $25 to make trades on the website, we've gone over many trades over the last year on this website using BTV values before it became pay walled and a lot of them made no sense whatsoever. It's a nice tool, but needs to be taken with a giant grain of sand and some common sense.
  9. What we can all take away from this is that BTV is a horrible site and should never be used in discussing actual trades. In no world should Bryce Miller cost you Nico+Shaw+plus another roughly 8-10 million in value so a guy in the Cub top 15. With that mini rant out of the way, the only way I'm willing to move Nico is if #1, it allows you to bring in a pitching upgrade through the trade and #2 the cost savings, along with lots of already free money, allow you to add a significant offensive upgrade at 2B. Outside of that, I'm not sure how it makes sense.
  10. This is more or less where I am. I have a cell phone I bought in December of 2018 and a Facebook account I've posted on maybe once in the last 5 years, that's it. I've never had a Twitter account, or Snapchat or Instagram or anything like that. I get enough misery porn every time I turn on TV/Radio I don't need additional sources to add extra anxiety.
  11. I'm not even that upset about yesterday's game. I'm definitely far less upset than after the hail Mary and that abomination of a New England game. Caleb's numbers weren't eye popping, but given who they played, I thought Caleb was very well and that's the biggest take away for me. When they're not trying to force downfield plays with a back up Oline, Caleb gets the job done. Hopefully after next draft he'll have the Oline to go hunting for those bigger plays on a more consistent basis.
  12. Run a 5 yard out at the sideline, if it's not there Caleb tosses the ball away. There was so many options other then do nothing.
  13. Interesting how Paredes having a few bad months despite still posting a 3.4 fWAR in 2024 relegates him to the bench but we're supposed to overlook Assad posting a 6.57 K/9, 4.09 BB/9 , 4.80 FIP and 4.88 xFIP after July 15th and just ignore it because he was good prior to that.
  14. It completely baffles me how many people are ready to bench a 3B worth 10 fWAR over the last 3 years.
  15. Realistically, they need to finish top 10 to get one of the 2 big OTs, if not they should grab either a DE or Malaki Starks and then grab an OL with the panther's 2nd.
  16. Season ends right now the Bears pick 11th, by seasons end I think it's more like in the 6-8 range. That puts one of Will Campbell or Kelvin banks on the table. Move Jones inside and that's a vastly upgraded Oline.
  17. It's amazing that they're 2 90+% outcome failures from being 6-4 despite their struggles.
  18. Yeah, you cannot lose this many high % win games in such a short time and not be the reason for it.
  19. On the bright side, Caleb was good to very good today given the level of his competition. 23/31 231 passing yards 70 rushing yards 0 turnovers
  20. Yeah this team is cursed
  21. Do work Caleb, do horsefeathers work.
  22. The Bears are the old Lions, they just find ways to lose. Oline is good all day, collapses when it counts. Defense is pretty good all day, collapses when it counts.
  23. Oline, wtf on 2nd down?
