  1. I hate to admit this, but I am extremely happy. Go back to mediocrity Purdue.
  2. And the hits just keep coming. This is getting comical.
  3. Haha, wonderful. Matt Flynn against the Dolphins.
  4. A 17-point win on the road with our backup QB turning in one of the worst performances in Bears QB history? It was far from an impressive win, but it certainly was not unimpressive. The defense was nothing less than beastly today. Carolina's offense is bad but they weren't nearly this bad against New Orleans. The Bears should have dominated that game. They are better than Carolina in every respect. Backup QB or not, that is a game the Bears had no business losing, and they performed up to expectations.
  5. Yeah I'm pissed. Since the NFC title game in 07 it seems like they have lost a lot of games on last second scores and haven't been able to win one. With all the injuries I'm kind of panicking. I could see them finishing last in the division. Especially if the offense continues to blow. That was awful. We put the run game together today, but Jennings continues to be a disappearing act on offense. Losing Finley and Matthews in the same game was a horrible break. It seems that the injuries have derailed this team. Positives to take from today: We are only one game back of the Bears, they beat the Panthers. Big whoop. Favre is under investigation by the league, which makes Minnesota far less dangerous. We can still win the division. Nick Barnett may be coming back, and we get Al Harris and Bigby back in a couple weeks. Negatives: We need Finley and Matthews on the field. We blew a second half lead. Play calling was awful. Mason Crosby continues to miss big kicks. We only gave Jackson the ball ten times, even though he was effective. Offensive line blows. Expectations are far too high for this team, they are middle of the road right now. Mike McCarthy is an awful coach, I have little reasoning at this point to back it up, but his teams commit too many penalties, and seem soft when things don't go their way.
  6. I'm very excited about Illinois winning yesterday. I'm not sure if this means Penn State is really bad or the Illini are decent. I think it is a little of both. I think next week will go a long way in determining Illinois' strength against MSU. With that said, they have put together two solid games against two of the perennial Big Ten powers in consecutive weeks. That is progress, and that is something to celebrate. Also, I'm really excited about the possibility of Christmas in Detroit, a bowl game (and possibly a win) would be HUGE for the program.
  7. Les Miles must have done something great in a past life.
  8. As the Forbes article pointed out the Cubs get the least bang for their buck of any major league team. Fire Hendry and I support Ricketts. It's that simple.
  9. Greg Jennings is hit or miss. Stick with the consistent production. Finley is really hurting his value this year.
  10. So, I've been drinking Orange Kool-Aid, and I'd like to officially go on record with Sully. The Illini will win the Big Ten. 10 days til Midnight Madness and hopefully a Chasson Randle commitment. This is going to be a fun year.
  11. Let the Brad Beal to Kansas rumors begin
  12. The game at Lambeau is pretty likely to be pointless, being the last game. Bears-Packers is always a big game.
  13. That was a garbage performance by Green Bay. We gave the Bears the game on a platter. The team needs to show much better discipline. Congrats on your win Bears fans, as I predicted special teams played a huge role in the game. See you at Lambeau.
  14. LOL in your dreams. There is nothing to suggest the Bears are capable of beating Green Bay, let alone by double digits. i agree the double digit victory is a longshot, but to say they've shown "nothing to suggest the bears are capable of beating green bay" is ridiculous. Yeah, I'm really not all that confident about this game. I don't see why the Bears can't win at home against us tonight. I agree. I'm getting a feeling this Bears team is actually pretty good. I'm expecting a close game, and think special teams will play a major role.
  15. I'm just happy that Randle isn't going to Purdue for MM. I think that is a great sign for us, and hopefully he will be ready to commit shortly thereafter.
  16. Positive: Chasson Randle is visiting Illinois for Midnight Madness. Negative: Mike Shaw doesn't have a clue where he wants to go to college. This has got to be the most overblown recruitment I've seen in a while. At this point I'm not sure Shaw is even worth the trouble. If he picks Illinois great. If not enjoy the Big East.
  17. I think the Cowboys, Steelers, and Packers qualify as the Yankees much more then the Patriots. The Patriots are certainly the flavor of the decade, but I think you need to take a more historical perspective when choosing a team to compare to the Yankees. If we take the Super Bowl Era then the nod goes to the Cowboys, they have the rings, the fanbase, and are "America's Team." The Packers have the most titles of any team, but 9 came before the Super Bowl era, it's like comparing apples to oranges. Finally, I think a strong argument can be made for the Steelers, 6 Super Bowls, a heavy hall of fame lineage, and a rabid fan base, and the Rooney's most closely emulate the Steinbrenners except with a bit more class.
  18. In other news Justin Harrell is also out for the season with a torn ACL. I wasn't expecting much from him, but that draft choice has been a total failure. The only question remaining is if Thompson will finally cut ties with him?
  19. This really sucks. I think we fall back behind the Vikings by losing Grant. This team looked poised to take the next step, but I doubt it will happen featuring Brandon Jackson.
  20. Dana O'Neil is a hack. I've never enjoyed her writing.
  21. I'm just going to throw my team in this thread because I don't feel like making another one. 10 Keeper League (1st year), auction draft, PPR, 4 pt TD pass league. I blew my money too early, but I think I have a good enough team to be competitive. QB- Cutler RB- Chris Johnson RB- Knowshon Moreno Flex- Steve Smith (Car) WR- Reggie Wayne WR- Greg Jennings WR- Donald Driver TE- Owen Daniels D- Baltimore K- Rackers Bench Orton, Donald Brown, Javon Ringer, Devin Hester, Leon Washington, Harry Douglas, Toby Gerhart
  22. I like these divisions from an Illinois standpoint.
  23. The same reason Northwestern @ Iowa was on ESPN2 last year. They're contractually obligated to show each Big Ten team at least once during Big Ten play. Typically they double up in a game that nobody is going to watch, but Indiana will still be on ESPN/2 plenty this year. So they can wax poetic about the tanned one, and how Indiana basketball will be back.
  24. I have pretty much the same take on it. My only question is if OSU will somehow end up being implicated in this.
  25. good for illini fans though I'm kinda disappointed. Purdue fans just don't melt down like Illini fans. This is almost Shaun Livingston bad for their program and their message board was not nearly as exciting as I had hoped.
