  1. Can't say I'd necessarily stay on campus for 5 days to watch us beat up on Yale. Me either. This has been the most blah game ever. Hopefully we are ready for Guenther Bowl 2 on Saturday.
  2. Assembly Hall is about as lively as church right now. What a snore fest
  3. Illinois fell to 19 in the coaches poll. Apparently Minnesota's win over UNC was so impressive they are now 17th.
  4. Seriously, we could easily be undefeated right now.
  5. The Packers have looked dominant the past few games, and I am still concerned about their playoff prospects.
  6. Dear NU, Thank you for giving us that circus like atmosphere to destroy you on the national stage. Dear Ron Guenther, Although that was cool, please never agree to this again.
  7. Hyperbole. NU, Wrigley and the NCAA all have a duty to ensure that the players have a safe field to play on. This is a serious liability issue, and although I feel bad that some ticketholders may be cheated out of the full experience they paid for, I would much rather not have a student athlete seriously injure themselves as a result of a completely avoidable condition.
  8. It's not like the wall is out in the middle of the field, or would be popping up randomly in the players' way. It's not like paralysis is awesome.
  9. This was a move that had to be made for safety. Running into the bricks is much different than being pushed into the bricks by a 250 pound linebacker at full speed.
  10. The Maryland game showed me that Illinois has to work on its inbound plays against a press or Mizzou will kill us.
  11. Tisdale appears to actually possess that skill this year. It'll be interesting to see how he deals with a real front line tonight.
  12. Normally there is no good excuse to get out coached by Rick Barnes. Now there isn't any excuse. I'm very nervous. We are knocking on the door of national relevance again, and I just want to get through, but Illinois has disappointed me one too many times. This night has been three years in the making and I hope we do not drop a huge turd.
  13. I think GB dominates. Boos from the Norsemen faithful this week. It's gonna be ugly for them. I'm not feeling good about the game at all. I think Favre will pull a huge game out of his ass.
  14. The NIT would be a great accomplishment for IU this year. If they can gain SOME post season experience before the real talent starts comes in, then they will be in great shape. I also don't think 18 wins and a losing record in conference is anywhere near what the Selection Committee would like to see. Illinois went 10-8 last season with a win @ Wisconsin but was still snubbed.
  15. Thompson should be a load for us to stop. Should be a good game, but talent wise I think the teams are about equal. I give a huge coaching edge to Bruce on this one and I think that is what gets it done. OSU is going to be a huge force. They were very impressive tonight. Sullinger is giving me nightmares of Sean May, in that he is a hefty undersized (height wise) player who can dominate in college, except he looks way more athletic. I'm not sure there is anyone in the Big Ten who will be able to stop that kid. Hopefully the league will want him despite his height. If OSU can find any sort of PG play they will be scary good.
  16. I'm really starting to hate Sullinger.
  17. The arena looks pretty good. They got the fans much closer to the court.
  18. Is that not because they are by far the smallest school, and therefore have the smallest group of alumni by default? I'd be willing to guess a larger portion of NU alumni end up on the coasts w/r/t the other Big Ten schools as well.
  19. They might in the top-half of Chicago-area Big Ten fans. Maybe. For football. I think there are more OSU fans in the city than Northwestern fans. Not to mention Michigan, State, Illinois and Iowa That's my point. There's way too many Big Ten alums in Chicago for anyone to claim that it is "their" city.
  20. "Chicago's Big Ten Team." That still makes me chuckle.
  21. I want the season to be exciting and for the Bears to just miss the playoffs so the administration can clean house. But there is no great team so maybe, just maybe the Bears could win the Super Bowl. I don't see Atlanta or the Giants to be that much better than the Bears. No one is blowing anyone else out on a consistent basis. No team is dominant. If the whole point of playing in the NFL is to win a Super Bowl, maybe this is going to be the last time they could really do it in the near future. I think you are right. I keep waiting for the Saints to turn it on, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. It'll be interesting to see how the Giants respond after their loss to the Cowboys. They could really go in the toilet. I think GB has played much better than the Bears as of late, but playing Minnesota in the dome next week will be a tough game, and I'm not sure they will be able to beat Brett in his last shot against them. I have not seen the Falcons play enough to make an educated evaluation. I don't think you can forget about Philly either. If I were to rank the NFC right now I'd say: 1. Falcons 2. Packers 3. Giants 4. Bears 5. Saints 6. Philly Too bad the West is eating up a playoff spot this year.
  22. Nice win for the Bears today. Hopefully the Vikings pack it in now. Looking forward to playing them next week.
  23. Well, there goes any chance for the Zooker Claus to beat you. Have fun drubbing us on the national stage.
  24. Thank god the basketball team plays tonight. We'll get to see how much of a soft spot Bruce has for Southern. I'm not too worried about upset potential here, but I do think Southern will give us a game during the first half. After that I think our depth and talent will wear them down.
  25. Well Zooker Claus is coming to town next week, so it shouldn't have immediate effects.
