  1. I would only give the comment credence if Eric Gagne said it.
  2. What should we be thinking about? AVOIDING THE OTHER SHOE Holding it up, that is?
  3. Although that was my first reaction, too, upon further reflection, I think the writer of that article probably framed the transition to catcher in a way to fit it with the whole LLWS story. I highly doubt the move to catcher has anything to do with the fact that he caught some when he was 11.
  4. Berg? Really?
  5. Ryan Dempster is having a career year.
  6. His velocity was down in the last start, wasn't it? That doesn't say out of shape to me. It says arm fatigue to me.
  7. Lee has never been the same since the drunk base-runner crashed into him and broke his wrist.
  8. Wow, so maybe he *will* be called up in September to join the pen. I'm surprised.
  9. This quote sort of stood out to me. What do we make of this, I wonder? I find that kind of unnerving, actually. But at the same time, probably just a bit of puffing by DeRosa.
  10. i'm pretty sure there are some people who do. I try not to care, but I'm a small, petty man. And bitter. Still more bitter about the Colvin pick than the Vitters pick.
  11. Hope Guzman actually goes.
  12. Come on, Demp. Glaus has used up all his pop this series...
  13. Hey, as long as they're the best for approximately two and a half more months, I'll be happy.
  14. At the very least, there seems little chance he's not on the team next year.
  15. I know nothing about him, but I would like to hear what people have to say.
  16. I really hate hearing the argument that Marquis is fine, because he's fine for a 5th starter. That doesn't matter if you have a *BETTER* option for a 5th starter.
  17. I don't think there's any doubt that if the Cubs go anywhere in the playoffs, it will be Hendry.
  18. and sinker and change And whatever pitch gets hit on the fly to him with a runner on third and less than two outs in a close game. That's his money ball.
  19. Dude needs to sleep on the floor.
  20. Edmonds has been absolutely fantastic. And if he's willing to come back for a bench spot, great. But haven't we learned our lesson yet with this aging vets who come for cheap and put up a great year?
  21. I love the guy, I really do, but he could never be my favorite Cubs because of the Jekyl and Hyde at bats he puts out there. Sometimes he looks just plain awful and its in the same games where he'll hit a huge walk off 3 run homer. There's not a player ever who doesn't at times look "just plain awful." Hmm oh yes he has the same ratio of good to bad plate appearances as Ramirez, Lee and Fukudome I forgot I gotta agree. When Soriano is hot, he's hotter than 90% of baseball players can get at their hottest. But when he's cold, he sure feels worse than 50 to 60% of baseball players at their coldest.
  22. Is that at the Cubs bowling event or something?
  23. His eyes also shoot laser beams. I'm glad he's able to differentiate between those powers.
  24. Hah, that was my first year watching the team. I actually liked that rotation for some reason. I was a fan of Kevin Foster and Castillo. Navarro was solid with us, too. I don't remember much about Bullinger other than he had huge ears. Trachsel was dominant in 1996, if nothing else.
  25. True, but will the blister hurt his accuracy. Not pitching for a longer time certainly will. That's my main concern.
