  1. Looks like Chuck did bench Gorzelany. Turns out to be a moot point anyway since Gorzo scored exactly zero points today.
  2. Unless he checks in to set his lineup before tomorrow' games Chuck will exceed the allowable 4 starts. Gorzelany tomorrow will be his 5th.
  3. Shocking! I'm on too.
  4. Can anyone guess where the first name came from? :) Jay Payton feels so honored. :D
  5. Tom Watson had a hole-in-one on the 6th.
  6. http://www.fortheartofit.com/storage/Red-October-Quade.jpg
  7. Sounds like something a Sox fan would say.
  8. He was activated and placed on the major league roster, where he'll pitch out of the bullpen. Darren O'Day was optioned to AAA to make room for Feldman.
  9. I mentioned awhile back that I thought it would make a good ESPN movie or mini-series. I think I mentioned that around the time of Bronx Burning.
  10. So an Astro gets the game winning hit off an Astro. Talk about beating yourself. :D
  11. Drop Dunn, add Bautista Drop Posey, add Berkman
  12. And it also happened in 2003 after going 67-95 in 2002.
  13. Yeah the only thing that would've been close to that is if Josh Hamilton won in 2008... With his batting practice coach from when he was a kid I believe right? The guy was like 70 or something at the time... Yes, that's who it was. He was 71 at the time of the Derby.
  14. ESPN is reporting that an agreement may be in place to be ratified at the July 21 league meetings.
  15. Short week; presumably 4 pitching starts allowed (that's what it's been for previous All-Star weeks). Quakers (7-7) @ NC Cubs (5-9) Mighty D-Block (5-9) @ Eyes of Texas (10-4) Northside Baseball (8-6) @ Bazingas (11-3) Fuzzy Logistics (7-7) @ Tootielicious (9-5) Ron Washington's Dealers (8-6) @ Experiencing Turbulence (3-11) Harry's Budcrew (3-11) @ Sock it Thome (4-10) Kid Rodelo (8-6) @ Alamo Stealth (7-7) Habitual Linesteppers (7-7) @ Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (10-4) Last week for the East to exert its superiority over the West. Proof of the East's superiority: 1. My team, tied for 6th in the East, beat the 1st place team in the West by nearly 100 points last week. 2. As proof that wasn't a one-time fluke, my team is 4-3 against the West despite being only 1-6 against the East. 3. If the season were to end today 8-6 would miss the playoffs in the East but a 7-7 team would make the playoffs in the West.
  16. My DirecTV DVR chose today to go out (seems like a power outage may have fried the hard drive) and it will be up to three business days before I receive a replacement, so no Home Run Derby or All-Star Game on TV for me this year. At least I can listen to them on XM Radio.
  17. I'm assuming it's 4. That's what it's been in the past, and Tim didn't say otherwise when the question was asked in this week's thread.
  18. Futures Game MVP (2 for 2, 2 doubles, 1 run, 1 RBI). That's who the hell Grant Green is. :D
  19. The same announcers who twice said that Lee is in the Cub' organization.
  20. Of all people too ;-). Its like the Cubs getting that from Doug Davis. I've still got two starts from Verlander to help out. GO NC! Happy to oblige. :D
  21. Didn't his dad post here in the past? Yes. In fact he posted that the Cubs called Gallagher up for the first time before it was officially announced. Micah Hoffpauir's wife also used to post here, and Kyler Burke's brother still does on occasion.
  22. Well now they say Aramis has declined it. Would it still "count" as being an all-star this year, or does his declining negate that? Not that counting it means much -- you'd think there'd be a financial incentive to being named an allstar, not that it would represent too much to most of these guys. It does not count. Since he declined the invitation he is not an All-Star.
  23. Nearly a 70-point lead plus a 1-0 pitching start advantage remaining. I'm thinking I have a chance.
  24. The Iowa Cubs' web site shows Casey Coleman as the starter.
  25. Is there interest in continuing this league? So far only two people have signed up.
