  1. That BS needs to be changed. An incompetent umpire shouldn't be able to hide behind union membership and continue to act like he's bigger than the game. If they can't fire him they at least need to fine and suspend his ass.
  2. I got the two confused when the Cubs first signed Ramon. Easy to get confused; both first names begin with "R" and they both suck.
  3. Deven and I both have two pitching starts in the books. His total 48.5 and mine total 1.5.
  4. I didn't get the impression that the spitting was intentional, but nonetheless he'll undoubtedly be getting some time off. The bumps looked intentional.
  5. Not just this season. It's the first 6-HR game since 2006.
  6. There were some interesting fireworks in the Cardinals-Brewers game tonight (I watched the end of it on Extra Innings following the Cubs game). Pujols was hit by a pitch, and it was obviously unintentional since it loaded the bases with nobody out. Next half inning the Cardinals' pitcher (who was apparently left in the game just for this purpose) intentionally hit Braun. Braun started after the mound but was restrained and the dugouts looked like they were ready to empty, but nothing happened. The pitcher wasn't ejected (no warnings had previously been issued) but was removed from the game anyway. Later in the game Molina went off the deep end. He was called out on strikes (it looked to me like a good call) and said something to the umpire that got him ejected. He then got in the umpire's face, bumped him at least twice, and spat in his face. He'll undoubtedly be getting some time off for bad behavior.
  7. Not often when you see a guy get demoted 2 levels in a season, is it? Wallach has only been demoted 1 level this season. I thought he started off in Tennessee. Guess not. Are you confusing him with Smit, the other pitcher acquired in the Lilly trade? He has spent time at both Daytona and Tennessee this year.
  8. It couldn't. There's no way they could require a team to spend more to make up for a team that spends less. Perhaps they're just assuming that enough teams would spend more to make it a moot point.
  9. Yes. You'd be able to carry him on your minor league roster and he will have burned his first exemption; he'd have two exemptions remaining.
  10. Trout has been sent back down to AA.
  11. I remember the policy being in place; I just don't recall anybody actually making trades under that policy.
  12. I don't recall any post-deadline trades in the past. The next active trading period I recall is following completion of the playoffs up to the Feb. 14 keeper deadline. Trades could always be unofficially agreed to, but not executed, in the interim.
  13. Note to Bob: They're not free and other people will almost certainly give up good picks for the like of Halladay, Cano, etc. "Other people" might include me.
  14. Yes, I do have to keep bringing up that my putrid team beat the first place team. :D
  15. I verified, and the order is correct.
  16. Fewest points is the tie-breaker, so you're #1, followed by Chuck. I'm #3, and would have been even if I lost last week, so my less than one point win didn't hurt me. On the flip side, by losing to me and having fewer points than Adam had Clint has the next to last pick and Adam the last. Had Clint beat me the order would be reversed. Good for me, because that in turn means Adam has the first pick in the second round, and he traded that pick to me as part of the Lincecum trade.
  17. The order for the regular draft is set at the trading deadline. The order for the prospect draft is set at the end of the season.
  18. Looks like I win by a whopping 1/4 point. The craziness of the Tigers-Angels game was huge. Aybar, who reached on an error on his controversial bunt, scored and gave me a point. That's more than my margin of victory.
  19. NC Cubs receive 7th round pick from Northside Baseball for Napoli.
  20. Duke may have committed a recruiting violation. Coach K may have offered a scholarship to a player whose team was still alive in a tournament, and that's a no-no.
  21. If anybody is looking to upgrade at C or 1B I'd be willing to trade Napoli for a mid-round draft pick. He's been on a tear since returning from the DL. I'd also be willing to trade Hudson (or any of my non-exempt pitchers) for a mid-round pick.
  22. But apparently he'll make $23 million each of the next 3 years. Yeah, what I should have said is that his average salary will tie Brady.
  23. Peyton Manning has reportedly agreed to a 5-year, $90 million extension with the Colts. This would tie him with Tom Brady as the highest paid player in the league. Jim Irsay had stated that he planned to make Manning the highest paid player in the game, but Manning wanted to take less and leave more money for signing other players.
  24. Tiger plans to return for next week's Bridgestone Open.
  25. Defensive coordinator Everett Withers has been named interim head coach for this year.
