  1. Sutcliffe, not Sutcliff.
  2. This is his third game back. Guess I havn't been following the Nats all that closely this year. I haven't been either. I simply checked his page on baseball-reference.com.
  3. And then traded him to Texas when we didn't want to give him a well-deserved raise. And we got Bill Madlock in return, who seemingly had filled the black hole at 3B. And then we traded him because we didn't want to give him a well-deserved raise.
  4. Pitchers sometimes struggle for awhile when they first return from TJS. If he can get that out of the way now maybe he'll be back in top form next year.
  5. I really don't think there is such a rule. I think that's just the settings in CBS Sports. Theoretically you could have 21 starting pitchers if you used all of your bench spots, DL spots, and minor league spots on starting pitchers.
  6. Probably; most teams do that. It's one way to hide the identity of a player you're really interested in trading if you place ten others on waivers at the same time.
  7. Crisp was injured in today's game and is day-to-day, so I replaced him with Guerrero.
  8. Pissing, definitely not. Calmly debating semantics, perhaps.
  9. I meant at the END of an inning (9th or later), but technically the way I worded it could be interpreted as taking the lead in the top of the 10th, in which case they could blow it.
  10. For playoff seeding head-to-head is the first tie-breaker, followed by divisional record and then total points. For draft positions total points is the tie-breaker (I don't think we've discussed what the next tie-breaker would be).
  11. Cubs are 49-0 when they lead at the end of the 9th inning or later. :D
  12. And now we know why the Reds play Alonzo despite his defense.
  13. You stop bitching every damn time somebody else uses the "spirit of the rules" argument after you used it yourself to unfairly get your way and I'll stop bringing up you-know-who. just to clarify...because you think i "broke" the rules with sheets, everyone else should be able to break the rules. my sheets incident opened a pandora's box of rule-breaking that cannot be undone. or is it just people can break the rules against me only due to what has come to be known as the sheets incident of 2009? i just want to get your argument clear so its full stupidity is as obvious as possible. What I object to is your attitude that it's OK to use the "spirit of the rules" argument when it works for you but not when it works for somebody else.
  14. Conceptually I prefer the lineups set by Monday with exceptions option, but I think it's largely the exceptions that cause the complication, so I voted for the pick up players anytime without restrictions option.
  15. Yep, you're right. For some reason I was thinking Lou was here for 3 years instead of four. But was he really HERE for much of 2010? That's about what I was going to say. Physically he was here almost four years. Mentally he was here three years.
  16. He hit 20 home runs in June 1998, the major league record for most HRs in a month. The previous record (and still the AL record) was 18 by Rudy York of the Tigers in 1937
  17. You stop bitching every damn time somebody else uses the "spirit of the rules" argument after you used it yourself to unfairly get your way and I'll stop bringing up you-know-who.
  18. Kreutz has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Saints.
  19. After firing Butch Davis UNC's chancellor himself committed a secondary NCAA violation. He has publicly expressed displeasure that Davis offered a scholarship to his son, who will be a HS senior QB this fall. Oops; that's publicly commenting on recruiting, which is a no-no.
  20. Funny, since it was YOU that used the "spirit of the rules" argument to get your way with adding Sheets to the DL a couple years ago when he clearly wasn't eligible according to the stated rules (the fact that he was a bust is completely irrelevant to this discussion). You DO NOT have the right to bitch when others use the same argument that YOU YOURSELF have used in the past. Grow up!
  21. 90 years ago today was the first radio broadcast of a major league baseball game. KDKA in Pittsburgh broadcast the Pirates-Phillies game, with Harold Arlin as the announcer. The Pirates won 8-5.
  22. Infante to the DL, McGehee at 3B.
  23. LSU assistant coach Steve Kragthorpe has Parkinson's Disease. He is relinquishing his duties as offensive coordinator but will remain as quarterbacks coach.
  24. Apparently he's not appealing and will begin the suspension tonight.
